(Le français suit) Drawing on lessons from more than 40 countries, the evening will showcase locally grounded perspectives through a human rights lens—highlighting Indigenous rights and engagement in Ecuador, advancing women’s cybersecurity in Argentina, and promoting inclusive, gender-responsive budgeting in Tunisia. Together, we will reflect on how Canadian expertise helps shape more inclusive, equitable, and solidarity-driven responses to today’s global challenges.

In an international context marked by persistent poverty and mounting threats to human rights, democracy, and peace, Canadian development leaders are exploring the potential of shared impact on global cooperation. The evening draws on experiences from multiple initiatives implemented around the world, with a diverse panel bringing locally grounded perspectives to the forefront.
Discussions will be framed through a human lens, including the rights of Indigenous peoples and ethnic minorities, gender equality, and freedom of expression. This dialogue aims to help shape a more inclusive, equitable, and solidarity-based vision of Canadian technical assistance in response to today’s emerging global challenges, offering a space for critical and forward-looking dialogue on the future of international cooperation given the large-scale retreat of major funders in the US and Europe.

Table ronde sur le développement international : gouvernance, droits humains et solidarité mondiale
Introduction
. Cet événement vient clore le Partenariat d’assistance technique – Mécanisme de déploiement d’experts (PAT-MDE), financé par Affaires mondiales Canada (AMC) et mis en œuvre par Alinea International. Le programme a permis de mobiliser l’expertise canadienne dans plus de 40 pays partenaires. La soirée est organisée en collaboration avec l’Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM).
Dans un contexte international marqué par la persistance de la pauvreté et la multiplication des menaces pesant sur les droits humains, la démocratie et la paix, les acteurs du développement canadien s’interrogent sur les moyens de renforcer l’impact collectif de la coopération internationale. L’événement s’appuie sur les expériences d’initiatives mises en œuvre à travers le monde et réunit un panel diversifié qui apportera des perspectives ancrées dans les réalités locales.

S'appuyant sur les enseignements tirés de plus de 40 pays, la soirée mettra en lumière des perspectives locales sous l'angle des droits humains, en mettant l'accent sur les droits et l'engagement des peuples autochtones en Équateur, la promotion de la cybersécurité des femmes en Argentine et la promotion d'une budgétisation inclusive et sensible au genre en Tunisie. Ensemble, nous réfléchirons à la manière dont l'expertise canadienne contribue à façonner des réponses plus inclusives, équitables et solidaires aux défis mondiaux actuels.
