The Irene W. and C.B. Pennington Family has generously funded Dance For All, a program that aims to make dance accessible to individuals with disabilities and limited access to the art form. This multi-tiered program includes a training program for teachers, offering regular classes at the Cary Saurage Community Arts Center and various locations throughout the community. Dance For All also strives to provide professional education and networking opportunities on a statewide scale for dance professionals, educators, administrators, occupational therapists, and physical therapists. By doing so, they aim to ensure that students of all abilities can fully participate in the art of dance across the state. A cohort of dance leaders has been established to implement accessible dance in their areas of practice. These leaders participated in sessions with renowned dance companies such as Nashville Ballet, New York City Ballet, and Boston Ballet, specifically focusing on their accessible dance programs. The Six-week Dance For All Series, taught by Kaitlyn Odell and Bailey Floyd, is one of the initiatives under this program. This series will take place at the Cary Saurage Community Arts Center in Baton Rouge, offering an opportunity for individuals to engage in dance and movement. It is a free event that will run from November 19, 2023.
