This year’s theme, 
“From Birth and Beyond,”
 focuses on the latest approaches to supporting children, young people, and adults with hearing difference. The programme has been designed with 
Teachers of the Deaf and Speech and Language Therapists, Clinical Psychologists and Teaching assistants
 in mind, offering both research-led insights and practical strategies for everyday practice.

This event offers an excellent opportunity to share knowledge, explore practical tools, and connect with colleagues working in deaf education and speech and language.
Directions to Wakefield Town Hall.
Wakefield Town Hall is situated on Wood Street, a short walk from both the railway station and plentiful parking. For navigation purposes, the post code is WF1 2HQ.
Arriving by train
Wakefield Westgate is a 5 minute walk from Wakefield Town Hall. This station is on the East Coast Mainline, and trains from as far afield as London, Birmingham and Edinburgh will arrive in time for you to travel the same day. It is also a 15 minute journey from Leeds to connect with trains which stop there.
Wakefield Kirkgate is a different train station, served by fewer destinations and a 20 minute walk from the Town Hall. There is also a free CityBus which runs every 12 minutes, with Wakefield One being the closest stop to the Town Hall.
Parking
There is no parking at the Town Hall itself, but Wakefield City Centre has a number of car parks with all day parking available. All those listed here accept card payments. For more options, you can use

Providence Street, WF1 3BG - £5.20 for all day. This is a private car park, but can get full as it is one of the cheaper options. It is a 5 minute walk from the Town Hall.
Merchant Gate, WF1 2QN (next to the railway station) - £11.50 for all day. This is more expensive, but always has spaces available. It is a 6 minute walk from the Town Hall.
Ridings Centre, WF1 1DS - £6 for all day. Plentiful spaces, but a slightly longer walk. It is a 10 minute walk from the Town Hall. (Prices correct at 06/10/25)
Accommodation
If you would like to stay nearby the night before, we would suggest choosing somewhere slightly outside Wakefield City Centre.
The Holmfield Arms is around a mile from the Town Hall or train station, situated in Thornes Park, with a pleasant pub attached.
If you are driving, there are options close to the M1 motorway, with either the Holiday Inn or Ramada near J40 or a Premier Inn near J39.
Alternatively, as Leeds City Centre is only 15 minutes away by train, you could also opt to stay there overnight and travel to Wakefield in the morning.
Other things to do in the area
If you are planning on spending a little extra time in the area, the award-winning Hepworth Gallery is in Wakefield or the Yorkshire Sculpture Park is just a couple of miles away.
