We’re also hosting a reception and fundraiser for Movement, with a suggested ticket price of $15 per person. This ticket also gives you access to the competition and keynote.
OVERVIEW
Transit in our region is seriously underfunded. The only thing keeping it afloat right now is a short-term provincial bailout, and that lifeline only lasts until 2027. After that, we’re staring down the need for a major cash injection to maintain and grow our transit system.
So, where is that money supposed to come from?
It’s the kind of question that makes our elected officials nervous. They worry that raising taxes will cost them votes, even though, when you actually ask people, most are willing to support higher taxes if it means better service. But politicians rarely stick their necks out to test that.
So, here’s where we come in. We want to make it easier and less risky for leaders to finally act. We’re hosting 
Transit’s Next Top Funding Model, an
 
event where the region’s brightest policy minds will pitch their boldest funding solutions (everything from land value capture to property taxes) to a panel of judges representing labour, industry, and community groups. And yes, there will also be a live audience, ready to cheer (or jeer) their favourites. Think of it as a runway showdown for revenue tools!
The goal? Find out which solutions actually have public support (or, let’s be honest, which ones are the least unpopular).
We’re going to hand decision-makers proof: here are smart, fair funding options, and here’s what the public thinks. We’re taking the political risk out of doing what’s right, giving our leaders the data and backing they need to give our region the truly great transit system it deserves. After all, for Metro Vancouver to keep moving and avoid gridlock, we’re going to need more than short-term bailouts; we’re going to need
