Warlukurlangu Artists is situated at Yuendumu, Northern Territory and is one of the longest running and most successful Aboriginal owned art centres in Central Australia having opened in 1985. Artitja Fine Art Gallery has been in a productive and mutually respected partnership with the centre for over two decades, and are delighted to be hosting the visit of art centre Manager Cecilia Alfonso AOM for the opening weekend of the exhibition. This event is part of the WARLUKURLANGU | The Art of Yuendumu exhibition which runs between 8-30th March in South Fremantle, and is a rare opportunity to hear what it takes to operate and guide an art centre which is located in remote Australia, and how the daily challenges and productivity are met. Warlukurlangu Artists has developed an international reputation and is also the home of the hugely succesful Desert Dogs program headed by art centre co-Manager Gloria Morales AOM. This is a great opportunity to hear about the program and its rise to national prominence. Gallery Manager Anna Kanaris will interview Cecilia Alfonso in what promises to be an informative, inspiring and educational discussion.
