Join meteorologist and author Cindy Day (
Grandma Says
) and novelist Elizabeth Murphy (
The Weather Diviner
) for a lively conversation about weather lore and the North Atlantic Weather War (1939-45).
Cindy will talk about the old myths behind weather sayings and how they hold up against modern meteorology. Together, they’ll discuss how traditional weather lore connects to the war’s secret weather stations, encrypted forecasts, and planning of operations such as D-Day. They will also highlight the barriers women faced entering this field, through Violet’s fictional journey in 
The Weather Diviner
 and Cindy’s own experience building a career in meteorology.
The authors will do short readings and there will be time for questions and discussion.

Gorgeous! We busted around mid October and the leaves were begging to change. Everything was so well kept and picture perfect. They had flowers I&rsquo;d never seen before. They were so pretty!! Enjoyed walking around here for a while!

Peggy's Cove

Peggy&#39;s Cove is a must-see attraction when visiting Halifax. The lighthouse is on a small island, facing the sea, with beautiful scenery. There are souvenirs and local specialty products on the tower, and it is meaningful to buy some as souvenirs. There are restaurants around, but they are crowded, so we didn&#39;t go. There are also special lobsters, freshly caught from the sea, cooked for you in time, it is very necessary to try them.

No natural history museum can compare (sorry, Smithsonian). It&#39;s huge, but well laid out and modern. The exhibits are special, like the &quot;T-Rex&quot; is exceptional. As a bonus, you get to go inside the Hayden Planetarium. Take the subway from the underground entrance at 81st Street - this is a shorter line.
