This exhibition introduces the world of prints by world-renowned avant-garde artist Yayoi Kusama (1929-).
Yayoi Kusama made her international debut at the 45th Venice Biennale in 1993 as a representative Japanese artist, but her active involvement in printmaking from an earlier stage of her career was a major driving force behind her current acclaim.
In 1979, Yayoi Kusama exhibited her first prints. In contrast to her other works based on themes such as death and suffering after returning from the U.S., her prints are rich in color with vivid motifs. In addition to abstract expressions of her earlier works, motifs such as pumpkins, dresses, grapes, flowers, and butterflies covered in distinct colors and composed of mesh and polka dots are distinctive in her printworks. It is no exaggeration to say that Kusama, whose creative activities are rooted in the proliferation of dots and nets, inevitably encountered printmaking, an art of reproduction.

I rode my bicycle from Shijo Hilton and saw a rainbow. There was a delicious izakaya next to it. I drank until I was tipsy and waited for the night to arrive. I toured the castle of the Shogun at night. The feast of light and shadow was worth the price of the ticket.

Kifune Shrine

Going up the mountain along the flat road, the vermilion torii in front of you is the Kifune Shrine. There are many red lanterns on both sides of the long stairs, which is also the most photographed place in Kifune Shrine - the lantern-offering shrine. On the side of the bottom of the stairs, many photographers have already occupied favorable shooting positions, waiting for the lights to be turned on at night.

Kifune Shrine is an ancient shrine at the western foot of Kurama Mountain and the head shrine of Kifune Shrine. This is also the source of water for Kyoto. Kifune Shrine enshrines the most revered water god of Kyoto people. It has a history of more than 1,600 years, which is longer than the history of Kyoto itself.

The steps paved with bluestone slabs extend from the torii to the main shrine of the shrine. Vermilion lanterns stand on both sides of the shrine. Looking from the bottom up, they are densely packed all the way, which is very spectacular.

It has everything it needs. It doesn&#39;t look big and it takes 2 hours to see it all. Tickets at the door are 2400 for adults and 1200 for children, so buying tickets on Ctrip is affordable. Tickets are issued in real time and can be exchanged manually at the counter for admission.

The shrines are all local Shinto shrines in Japan. They are different from temples and actually have more local characteristics.

[Scenery] The scenery is very good. The architecture is said to be Tang style, but the pond and 🌲 trees are more beautiful.

[Value for money] 600 yen is not expensive.

It is unexpected that weddings can be held here.

Very sad to write this review. I googled the yayoi museum in Kyoto. Unfortunately, the tall statue is no longer there. I paid over $20 cad and didn&rsquo;t see anything. The exhibition was small/limited

The museum has staff who can guide you in English, and the annotations of the works are also available in English. The area around the Kyocera Museum of Art is particularly beautiful, and it is the cherry blossom season, so beautiful! Be sure to spend more time walking around!
