Gagosian is pleased to present Histórias Moldadas, an exhibition of new paintings by Adriana Varejão. Opening in Athens on May 15, this marks her first exhibition in Greece, and her fourth with the gallery. Histórias Moldadas features four new bodies of painting from Varejão’s Tile series, inspired by Brazilian, Greek, Turkish, and Chinese ceramic traditions.

The Acropolis of Athens is located on a limestone hill 150 meters above sea level in the southwest of Athens. It was built in the 5th century BC and is a holy place to commemorate the victory of the Greco-Persian War and to worship Athena, the patron saint of Athens. The main building, the Parthenon, is backed by the maze-like residential buildings of Plaka, Athens, and the cliff facing the sea stands steeply, towering in the blue sea and blue sky. In addition to the Parthenon, the Acropolis of Athens also has the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Victory, the Erechtheion, the Odeon of Herodes Atticus and other buildings. The chief architect was Phidias, who was famous at the time. The biggest feature of the Acropolis Museum is her spatial design, which is equivalent to making the Acropolis as a whole a space easy. Standing in front of the huge glass curtain, watching the Acropolis ruins, it is like a space conversion. The sculpture art of ancient Greece is indeed inextricably added. My favorite is the maiden column of the Poseidon Temple; it is said that everyone has been visiting the Acropolis Museum for a long time before a sculpture. It is a pity that my stay is too short. I suggest you leave more time for the Acropolis Museum for at least half a day.
