GIFT CARD TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Chapter 1: General Provisions
- Gift Cards are issued by Trip Air Ticketing (UK) Limited, a limited liability company (Company No. 10811048) with its address at Floor 10, 70 St Mary Axe, London, England, EC3A 8BE, a subsidiary of Trip.com Group Ltd (“Trip.com”, ”we”, “our” or “us”). We are a global online travel agency.
- To contact us, please email or telephone our customer service team (for our email address and helpline number, please see https://www.trip.com/help). You can also use the service chat on our website and mobile application (“Website”). References to our Website are deemed to include derivatives, including but not limited to linked websites and applications, whether accessed by mobile phone, tablet or other device.
- For the purpose of these Terms and Conditions: “Gift Card” shall refer to the virtual card with prepaid value issued by Trip.com for use on our Website; "Card Purchaser" shall refer to a user who purchases a Gift Card on our Website; and "Card Holder" shall refer to a user who obtains a Gift Card from a Card Purchaser and uses the Gift Card on our Website or claims relevant rights by virtue of the Gift Card held by the user.
- By using purchasing or using a Gift Card, the Card Purchaser/Card Holder is deemed to have accepted and agreed to comply with these Terms and Conditions, and warrants that they have capacity to enter into a legally binding contract (including being at least the required age to have capacity in their country). Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully (in particular the sections highlighted in bold on liability) and print a copy for future reference. If there is anything within these Terms and Conditions that you do not understand, please contact us using the details in paragraph 2. If you do not agree to these Terms and Conditions, you must not purchase or use a Gift Card.
- When using our Website and purchasing travel products or services with a Gift Card, our General Terms and Conditions will also apply - https://pages.trip.com/service-guideline/terms-en-uk.html.
- We may amend these Terms and Conditions from time to time. We will note the date that amendments were last made at the top of these Terms and Conditions, and any amendments will take effect upon posting. Every time you wish to purchase or use a Gift Card, please check these Terms and Conditions to ensure you understand the terms that apply at that time.
Chapter 2: Purchasing Gift Cards
- Gift Cards are not linked to a specific name and can be denominated in USD, AUD, SGD, GBP, HKD, or JPY. The value of a single Gift Card is limited to USD 4,000, AUD 6,000, SGD 1,000, GBP 3,000, HKD 30,000, JPY 600,000 or THB 100,000.
- Gift Cards can be purchased in any currency available on our Website. When a Card Purchaser chooses to pay in different currency to the one that the Gift Card is denominated in, the currency conversion shall be conducted with the then applicable exchange rate. This will be displayed to the Card Purchaser at the time of purchasing the Gift Card. By proceeding with the transaction, the Card Purchaser is deemed to have accepted the exchange rate. The provider of the account used to make payment may charge fees; the Card Purchaser is responsible for confirming and paying such fees and Trip.com accepts no liability thereof.
- Card Purchaser confirms that all details provided when purchasing a Gift Card (such as name and email address) are accurate and complete and that any mistakes will be notified to us immediately. If we reasonably require any further details after the Gift Card has been purchased, Card Purchaser will provide these to us in a timely manner.
- Gift Cards are electronic and will be emailed to the Card Purchaser following a successful purchase.
- A Card Purchaser may transfer a Gift Card (including Gift Card number, password/redemption code, and other relevant information) by email or any other channel or means permitted by our Website.
- Trip.com shall issue an electronic receipt to the Card Purchaser which shall include the amount paid in the currency the Gift Card was purchased in and the value of the Gift Card in the currency it is denominated in.
- Gift Cards are non-refundable.
Chapter 3: Using Gift Cards
- Gift Cards can only be used to book travel products and services on our Website. Gift Cards will be valid for the period notified at the time of purchase and as stated on the Gift Card.
- The balance on a Gift Card can be used for the payment of multiple bookings.
- You will earn Trip Coins when you purchase a Gift Card, however you will not earn Trip Coins on bookings paid for with Gift Cards.
- Gift Cards cannot be used to purchase additional Gift Cards. We reserve the right to adjust, at our sole discretion, the scope and types of the redeemable products and services at any time.
- When a Gift Card is used to pay for products or services priced in a different currency to the currency the Gift Card is denominated in, the amount deducted from the payment for the products/services shall be determined by a currency conversion conducted with the then applicable exchange rate. This will be displayed to the Card Holder before the deduction is applied. By proceeding with the transaction, the Card Holder is deemed to have accepted the exchange rate. Any loss or gain arising from a change in the exchange rate applicable at the time the Gift Card was purchased and the time the Gift Card is used shall be borne or enjoyed by the Card Purchaser/Card Holder and Trip.com shall not bear any liability. The provider of the account used to make payment may charge fees; the Card Purchaser is responsible for confirming and paying such fees and Trip.com accepts no liability thereof.
- Once a Gift Card has expired, if there is still a balance on the Gift Card the Card Holder may contact our customer services using the details in paragraph 2 and apply for an extension of the Gift Card. We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to grant or refuse extensions. Any extension granted will be for a maximum of 1 year.
- Gift Cards cannot be exchanged for cash. No interest is paid on Gift Card balances and there are no overdraft facilities. Gift Cards are for personal use only, and cannot be used or traded for commercial purposes. If you lose your Gift Card please contact our customer services using the details in paragraph 2, we will do our best to help you however we cannot guarantee that the Gift Card will be replaced.
- In the event of cancellation of a travel product or service booking that has been purchased using a Gift Card, the refund rules applicable to that booking shall apply and any refund of any amount paid via the Gift Card shall be refunded to the Gift Card. If the total cost of the travel product or service booking was higher than the value of the Gift Card, the additional cost shall be refunded back to the original payment method, unless we agree otherwise.If the booking was paid for with multiple Gift Cards, the total amount paid via Gift Cards will be refunded to the Gift Card with the longest validity period, unless agreed otherwise.
- Card Purchaser/Card Holder must not disclose any Gift Card details (including Gift Card number and password/redemption code) to any third party that they do not intend to use the Gift Card. If Card Purchaser/Card Holder knows or suspect that such a third party knows the Gift Card details, Card Purchaser/Card Holder must promptly notify us using the contact details in paragraph 2.
23. When purchasing or using a Gift Card a Card Purchaser/Card Holder shall not:
A. commit fraud, money laundering or other dishonest acts;
B. breach any applicable local, national or international law or regulation;
C. impersonate any person, or misrepresent their identity or affiliation with any person;
D. uses an invalid bank card or account, or a bank card or account that they are not authorized to use;
E. engage in any act that may spread computer viruses or may harm the service system or relevant materials; or
F. refuse to cooperate with an investigation into any of the above.
Chapter 4: Liability
- To the extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any loss or damage incurred by a Card Purchaser/Card Holder as a result of:
A. incorrect details (such as name and email address) submitted by Card Purchaser when purchasing a Gift Card;
B. the loss or destruction of a Gift Card by the Card Purchaser, Card Holder or a third party;
C. the Card Purchaser or Card Holder failing to keep the Gift Card details (including Gift Card number and password/redemption code) confidential from any third party that they do not intend to use the Gift Card;
D. any fees charged by Card Purchaser’s account provider for international payments or alternative exchange rates used by the account provider when paying in a different currency;
E. any changes in the exchange rate between the time of purchasing a Gift Card and the time the Gift Card is used;
F. false, inaccurate, outdated or incomplete payment information provided by you; and
G. events outside of our control, including but not limited to:
i. acts of god, flood, drought, earthquake or other natural disaster;
ii. epidemic or pandemic;
iii. terrorist attack, war, commotion or riots, war, threat of or preparation for war, armed conflict, imposition of sanctions, embargo, or breaking off of diplomatic relations;
iv. nuclear, chemical or biological contamination or sonic boom;
v. any law or any action taken by a government or public authority; and
vi. internet, system or device instability, computer viruses and hacker attacks.
H. We do not guarantee that our Website, or any content on it, will always be available or be uninterrupted. We may suspend, withdraw, or restrict the availability of all or any part of our Website for business and operational reasons. We will try to give reasonable notice of any suspension or withdrawal.
Chapter 5: Breach of these Terms and Conditions
25. Card Purchasers/Card Holders are responsible for any losses suffered by us as a result of their purchase or use of a Gift Card that is not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.
26. Failure to comply with these Terms and Conditions, including but not limited to paragraph 24, may result in our taking all or any of the following actions:
A. suspend or terminate the Gift Card, your right to use our Website, a booking made on our Website and/or our services;
B. issue of a warning to you;
C. legal proceedings against you for reimbursement of all costs on an indemnity basis (including, but not limited to, reasonable administrative and legal costs) resulting from the breach;
D. further legal action against you;
E. disclosure of such information to law enforcement authorities as we reasonably feel is necessary or as required by law.
Chapter 6: Personal Data

Chapter 7: General
- If you have any questions or complaints about Gift Cards, please contact us using the details in paragraph 2 of these Terms and Conditions.
- These Terms and Conditions and any dispute or claim (including non-contractual disputes or claims) arising out of them, their subject matter or formation shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the law of England and Wales, although this shall not deprive you of any mandatory consumer rights of the law of the country in which you are resident in.
- You and we both agree that that the courts of England will have jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms and Conditions (including any dispute regarding the existence, validity or termination of these Terms and Conditions) (“Dispute”)although this shall not deprive you of any mandatory right to choose instead to resolve any such dispute or claim in the courts of the country in which you are resident.
- Notwithstanding paragraph 30 of these Terms and Conditions, we shall not be prevented from taking proceedings relating to a Dispute in any other courts with jurisdiction. To the extent allowed by law, we may take concurrent proceedings in any number of jurisdictions.
- Where the original English version of these terms has been translated into other languages, the English version shall prevail in the event of any inconsistences between the versions.
- These terms are between you and us. No other person shall have any rights to enforce any of these terms.
- If any court or relevant authority finds that part of these terms are illegal, the rest will continue in full force and effect.
- Even if we delay enforcing these terms, we may still take steps against you at a later date.
