The location of the inn is very good. It is in the ancient city. It is very close to the main street and scenic spots. It is convenient for eating and playing. I really like the small yard in front of the room, where I can drink tea and chat with my colleagues. The front desk and waiters are friendly, the cleaning is timely, and the facilities are complete. They also gave small gifts to each room when leaving, which is considerate and recommended.

We spent two wonderful nights at Yungang Hotel in Datong. First of all, our deepest gratitude to Yang wen yuan - 杨文元. When booking from Europe, we did not realise correctly the time required to get to the caves and to the hanging monastery (a must view when in Datong). We thought that by using public transport we could manage to do both in a short period of time. So wrong! We arrived and Yang wen yuan - 杨文元 reassured us and in less than 30 minutes he was able to help and book for us a private car for the next day. He made our stay unforgettable. Thanks a lot from both of us if you are reading ! Plus, this hotel is wonderful : super new, technological and the staff is super kind (from the ones in the lobby to the ones in the restaurant/cafeteria). Breakfast is amazing. You can have everything, freshly made for you.

This Inn is managed by a family that is very nice. Once you arrive from the train station (Pingyaogucheng) with a taxi, they come to pick you up to the Inn (2 min) because the taxi isn't allowed inside the ancient city. They offer to drive you one way to or from the train station (it's free). I was in a room with a traditional atmosphere (with a kang bed having a mattress a little harder than others).

If you're only in Datong for a short time then location matters. The hotel tries hard with free canned drinks, welcome dessert and friendly staff but there are no shops next to the hotel at all although you can walk to a local neighbourhood about 700-800m away. The old city wall is not exactly near even if you can see parts of it from your hotel window. There is no subway in Datong so if you're interested in attractions in the old town then you need to factor in taxi costs unless you fancy a bit of a walk in the bitter cold. Breakfast is very local and very substantial.

To get the hotel from Datong South Railway Station by bus no.31 from the bus station side(the area is connected), take around 30 minutes to get there (Yungang Jianguo hotel, the hotel is opposite, only 2 CNY, many food and minimart around there. There is Muslim food there if need(next to the entrance of C(behind the building). Nice service, self check-in, clean room and relaxing. the owner, you should to contact the owner before arrive, she so friendly and always help you, she suggested us about the famous local food and restaurants(Thank you so much). If you need to buy some necessary item and cannot buy at the around minimart, you can walk to the Yonghui Superstore by East side (the next junction) turn right to Yuhe West rd. (At the corner). From the hotel tobget Yungang Grottoes, you can take bus no. 31 (Yungang Jianguo side), get off at Shi Li Dian Cun Xi ( West Shilidian village), cross to another side and catch bus no.12 to the terminal stop(is Yungang Grottoes. Take 1 hour or 1.30 to get there.

The hotel is centrally located not far from the main shopping area and less than 10RMB by taxi to the historic palace area. The rooms are modern, clean and very comfortable with sufficient room. Lovely breakfast was included and the restaurant on the second floor serves lunch and diner. Gym on the top floor, friendly staff and a good price, I will definitely stay here again.

This lovely hotel gets 6 out of 5 stars!! It is located a 5 min. Walk from the main street, not too far of the gate where you can catch a taxi to the train station. However the hotel organised a pickup from the gate, which they did not charge for. The room is probably the best room we have rented ever, definitely in this price range you won't find a better one. It was super clean, new, huge comfortable bed, everything was working as advertised. The bathroom is super modern with the most advanced toilet. Outside the room is a lovely sitting or smoking area where you can chill. The host is really attentive and friendly, perfect. I can recommend this hotel, you won't be disappointed!!

Another wonderful stay with the lovely Pipa Inn. If you travel to the gorgeous old town of Datong, this is where you must stay!!! The staff are so friendly, the rooms and hotel are beautiful, great location in the middle of the old town and the inn can arrange a driver to get you to all the historical sights. Highly recommend.

Old Inn style inn, very nicely devided room. Location was perfect, right in the heart of the old city. It was much nicer than expected and accomodated to foreign guests. Staff does not speak English, but they communicate woth translating apps effectively.

It's just across the street from Huayan Temple. Go there when it opens at 8am to avoid tour groups and large crowds. The room is large, and the upstairs is quiet, clean, and thoughtfully provides disposable bath towels and toilet seats, as well as body lotion and facial cleanser. The proprietress is kind and friendly. Datong is not cold at the end of October. Come and experience the charm of ancient buildings in Shanxi! A small suggestion, it would be more convenient to install a full-length mirror behind the door.

When we arrived we were given the wrong room in B tower with single beds, we had to go back downstairs and show the booking again to request the correct double room in A tower. The rooms and amenities are old, and the fridge is broken. I called reception who told me to bring any items I want to cool down to the reception and use their fridge, when I asked if we can swap the broken fridge for a working fridge, they said all of the fridges are like this. They won't admit the fridges are all broken, but all of the fridges in the hotel are warm and won't make your food / beverages cold. The hotel is in dire need of an upgrade, and they need to replace the fridges.

I came to Datong with my wife. I browsed on Ctrip for several days and finally chose this All Seasons. As expected, I was not disappointed. This is the best and value for money hotel I stayed in last 12 days trip from Beijing, Datong, Taiyuan, Pingyao, Xian. The room is nice, breakfast is good, hotel room even provide you with a washing machine in tge room with detergent free. Highly recommended and great for longer stay. Cheers

Second time I've been to this hotel, they have coffee, the breakfast is good. Also I asked for a humidifier and they brought it. In general it's a good hotel. Very close to the train station.

The hotel upgraded the superior deluxe king-size bed room for free, which made the stay more comfortable. The room environment was very clean. Absolutely amazing experience and hospitality at a beautiful guesthouse in Pingyao. The hosts were the most friendly and hospitable hosts, and helped us with all of our needs. The room was great, with a huge bed, strong wifi, and good shower. The view in the courtyard is exceptional and you could stay there all day to look at the beauty. The location is very central, near all the major sights and streets, but also tucked down a quiet street. Thank you so much to the hosts for a wonderful time and feeling like family!

The hotel is really nice and in the authentic style of Pingyao. It is quite closed from the east gate and from the ancient city center. The owner is really friendly, speaks good English and is doing everything to make you enjoy your stay. He did explained very well all the activity and provide help if needed. The room is clean and we didn't care about the size as we were out all day. If I have to suggest one thing, it will be to have bigger mattresses as they are quite hard but it's a personal preference.
