What a lovely hotel in a lovely city. Although it has Centre Gare in its name the hotel is some way from the station, about a 10-15 minute walk. It is on the Tramway which stops right outside the hotel. What makes this hotel special is the young staff, they work as team from reception to the housekeepers nothing is too much trouble. Loredana on reception epitomised all that is good about the hotel. Helpful, efficient with much bonhomie. The breakfast room was kept up-to-date and there was a wide range of choice to suit all needs. The room was modest but kept impeccably clean by friendly housekeepers. The very minor negative was the toilet tissue and not toilet roll, as all travellers know this can be an issue. The Manager of this hotel should take great credit and pride in the team he/she has built. It was the the polar opposite of the Nantes hotel reviewed later.

The Novotel Angers Centre Gare Hotel is a clean and contemporary hotel, however we felt it lacked ambience. The hotel is located right next to the Angers Gare, and while it may be convenient for those travelling to the Novotel Angers Centre Gare Hotel by train, the hotel does offer car parking at the Angers Gare car park, which is operated by an independent operator, and the hotel does offer a discounted rate for the car park. The Novotel is within a 10-15 minute walk to the centre of Angers and about a 10 minute walk to Angers Castle, both of which are in two different directions of the hotel. The room we had was spacious, with a double bed, in-room safe, room-control air conditioning, very small wardrobe, fridge and kettle with basic tea and coffee. Sparkling water was the only beverage provided in the room and not plain water for the kettle, nor milk and only paper cups!! The block-out curtains worked well at night, although you could hear the train, however our room overlooked the train station. The bathroom had a bath step-in-shower and the shower pressure for the hot water was poor, and there was limited space on the bathroom vanity to spread out hair appliances etc. The in-room phone didn’t work, so we had to make our way down to reception to ask for an ironing board and iron. Bath robes and slippers weren’t supplied. The buffet breakfast was an additional cost, although it did offer a good selection of hot and cold, savoury and sweet menu, which was nice. If you're looking for a basic, clean and convenient no-frills hotel, then the Novotel Angers Centre Gare Hotel, could be for you!

The city of Angers is very quiet, as is the surrounding area of the train station, it is not noisy at all, and there are no messes. The hotel rooms are large and the interior is decorated in a classic style. The breakfast was quite satisfactory. Recommended.

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel after reading negative reviews about the state of the rooms. Yes, maybe its not brand new, but the room was very clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful. Overall a good place to stay. There is a huge parking place for just 2 euro's a night. Its a bit out of town, but we had a nice walk by the Beautifull lake which is about 10 minutes walk from the hotel (behind Burger King). As been said by many, there is a handy mall across the road with places to eat and a big Carrefour supermarket. We would definitely stay here again. A great rest, recommended.

Second stay, very nice The hotel on the ground floor is a supermarket where you can buy something and take it back to your room for processing. Please bring in addition to towels, bath towels and bath fluids. You don't need someone to actively clean it. There are two huge sorting bins. The bathroom is wet and dry. The hot water is very good.

The hotel’s location is perfect- right in the center of Angers, about a 15 minute walk from the train station. It can be a little loud at night because there are some bars/restaurants nearby, but perfect if you want to be close to lots of shopping, restaurants, and nightlife. Everything was clean and well-kept and the staff were professional. Inside the rooms, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom looked modern and recently redone, and they had a simple air-conditioning unit that was a lifesaver in this unprecedented heat.

Located as it is, this hotel is very handy for the main TGV trains and also the local tram service. The bedroom we had was perfectly acceptable, well appointed with modern en-suite facilities (shower, no bath). We did not opt for the breakfast at just under €10 and instead went next door to the excellent boulangerie for croissants and coffee. Whilst we were there, most of France was enjoying a heatwave and, we had the use of a powerful fan, rather than air conditioning. We would stay again.

The hotel is opposite the train station, the room is small, the single room is acceptable, the double room is very cramped. The room is divided into street-facing and non-street-facing, and the room facing the street is very noisy. I stayed in the room facing the street in mid-June. The sun can be directly shining in the room at noon. There is no air conditioning and the temperature is very high. Very noisy when the window is opened. Breakfast is very similar to Ibis. I feel that the room rate is high, chatting with other guests, and learning that the same time and room type, the French locals only booked less than 100 euros (including breakfast), 30% lower than our Chinese. Now the French hotel is not deliberately increasing the price for the Chinese.

Very friendly staff, clean hotel. Now in summer, the air conditioning in the room was very good by hand between 15 and 25 degrees; or just completely out. Only the staircase was very warm and a little old and muffy - should be lighter, friendly, renovated! There you have more enjoyment to take the stairs sportingly! Breakfast was very good with a lot of fresh selection, even though the fruit salad was only cut fresh at the beginning of the week. Later then more and more dozen peaches. But fresh melons, watermelons or ananas always gave. Also fruit to take! Unfortunately, all towels were changed daily, even if they were properly hanged.

We booked 3 rooms at Hotel 21, half the group were driving and half cycling. Thomas couldn't have been more helpful in the whole process from booking to our stay. It's a lovely hotel, easy to find from the motorway. We found parking in the next street and the storage for bikes was secure. The rooms were large and light and minimal noise from the busy street due to good windows. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, plentiful and personal. We had some issues in the morning with the next stage of our journey and we were so grateful to Thomas for helping us get organised with a taxi, luggage storage and general help. He has a wonderful sense of humour too! We would love to come back and explore Angers a bit more and would definitely stay at Hotel 21 Foch. Our thanks to Thomas for all his help.

It’s a good choice to come to this hotel if you have the opportunity in the summer, the privacy is good and the high-speed outer ring is convenient, the hotel room service is humanized and the service is very heartwarming, and the check-out time does not stop urging, which gives us enough patience and trust . The heating is very powerful to make the originally cold winter no longer cold 🥶. The sheets and quilts were clean and dry, and did not bring any unpleasantness to the wet winter. Very friendly staff, clean hotel. Now in summer, the air conditioning in the room was very good by hand between 15 and 25 degrees; or just completely out. Only the staircase was very warm and a little old and muffy - should be lighter, friendly, renovated! There you have more enjoyment to take the stairs sportingly! Breakfast was very good with a lot of fresh selection, even though the fruit salad was only cut fresh at the beginning of the week. Later then more and more dozen peaches. But fresh melons, watermelons or ananas always gave. Also fruit to take! Unfortunately, all towels were changed daily, even if they were properly hanged.

Located as it is, this hotel is very handy for the main TGV trains and also the local tram service. The bedroom we had was perfectly acceptable, well appointed with modern en-suite facilities (shower, no bath). We did not opt for the breakfast at just under €10 and instead went next door to the excellent boulangerie for croissants and coffee. Whilst we were there, most of France was enjoying a heatwave and, we had the use of a powerful fan, rather than air conditioning. We would stay again.

Second stay, very nice The hotel on the ground floor is a supermarket where you can buy something and take it back to your room for processing. The rooms include induction cookers, filter coffee pots, pots, frying pans, pots, wipes, rags, extraction hoods, knives, forks and cups. Please bring in addition to towels, bath towels and bath fluids. You don't need someone to actively clean it. There are two huge sorting bins. The bathroom is wet and dry. The hot water is very good.

The hotel’s location is perfect- right in the center of Angers, about a 15 minute walk from the train station. It can be a little loud at night because there are some bars/restaurants nearby, but perfect if you want to be close to lots of shopping, restaurants, and nightlife. Everything was clean and well-kept and the staff were professional. Inside the rooms, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom looked modern and recently redone, and they had a simple air-conditioning unit that was a lifesaver in this unprecedented heat.

It’s a good choice to come to this hotel if you have the opportunity in the summer, the privacy is good and the high-speed outer ring is convenient, the hotel room service is humanized and the service is very heartwarming, and the check-out time does not stop urging, which gives us enough patience and trust . The heating is very powerful to make the originally cold winter no longer cold 🥶. The sheets and quilts were clean and dry, and did not bring any unpleasantness to the wet winter. I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel after reading negative reviews about the state of the rooms. Yes, maybe its not brand new, but the room was very clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful. Overall a good place to stay. There is a huge parking place for just 2 euro's a night. Its a bit out of town, but we had a nice walk by the Beautifull lake which is about 10 minutes walk from the hotel (behind Burger King). As been said by many, there is a handy mall across the road with places to eat and a big Carrefour supermarket. We would definitely stay here again. A great rest, recommended.

The hotel is housed in a classical French building, only one road from the railway station. The city of Angers is very quiet, as is the surrounding area of the train station, it is not noisy at all, and there are no messes. The hotel rooms are large and the interior is decorated in a classic style. The breakfast was quite satisfactory. Recommended.

We booked 3 rooms at Hotel 21, half the group were driving and half cycling. Thomas couldn't have been more helpful in the whole process from booking to our stay. It's a lovely hotel, easy to find from the motorway. We found parking in the next street and the storage for bikes was secure. The rooms were large and light and minimal noise from the busy street due to good windows. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, plentiful and personal. We had some issues in the morning with the next stage of our journey and we were so grateful to Thomas for helping us get organised with a taxi, luggage storage and general help. He has a wonderful sense of humour too! We would love to come back and explore Angers a bit more and would definitely stay at Hotel 21 Foch. Our thanks to Thomas for all his help.

What a lovely hotel in a lovely city. Although it has Centre Gare in its name the hotel is some way from the station, about a 10-15 minute walk. It is on the Tramway which stops right outside the hotel. What makes this hotel special is the young staff, they work as team from reception to the housekeepers nothing is too much trouble. Loredana on reception epitomised all that is good about the hotel. Helpful, efficient with much bonhomie. The breakfast room was kept up-to-date and there was a wide range of choice to suit all needs. The room was modest but kept impeccably clean by friendly housekeepers. The very minor negative was the toilet tissue and not toilet roll, as all travellers know this can be an issue. The Manager of this hotel should take great credit and pride in the team he/she has built. It was the the polar opposite of the Nantes hotel reviewed later.
