Restaurant has been refurbished and now feels more spacious than before. Choice of three Sunday roasts; beef, chicken or lamb - each £18. From ordering to on the table was less than 10 minutes, so it must be reheated. That said, apart from a bit of unevenness in temperature, it was pretty good. Plenty of meat served with roasties, cauliflower cheese, broccoli, carrots, stuffing, pig in blanket and giant Yorkie provided, with plenty of gravy. 5 or 6 desserts to chose from.

So let me explain... I came here 3 weeks ago for the first time. I'm back for my birthday. I have no affiliation with this venue. This is a god's honest review. I rocked up early to be unexpectedly greeted by Marie and her husband who arrive at 4am to keep this place looking immaculate, and it's just that. Its spotless. She's so lovely she hugged me. You're not getting that kind of reception at the Langham! Next up, the wonderful Dee who, for the 2nd time , went way beyond necessity to accommodate myself and my partner. She is the epitome of customer service, sweetness and light personified.. I've yet to meet anyone that surpasses her in hospitality. Time for shenanigans. The mixologist of Essex...THE MAN.....Francesco. As smooth as his cocktails...I've not tasted a better one in years. The stunning Mandy is also behind the bar..so friendly..I divulged all of my secrets within 10 mins. I rinsed off her ears and she didn't bar an eyelid. A 5* hotel concierge in waiting I'm not a fan of regular pubs. But this isn't a regular pub. It's beautiful. This is the Mal Maison of Aybridge but way better. None of the ponce with all of the class and sexy ambience you might want. I wanted that for my birthday and I got it in droves. The decor is flirtatiously delicious.. the patrons divine ( shout out to Big Dave who I encountered at the bar) and incredibly, I think they are undercharging. I used to do mystery shopping and I've paid twice this price for places that don't hit the spot. It's pristine, elegant and scrumptious. The New Boar gets it right..whether your here for business or leisure. I love this place. You'd be crazy not to stay here. The food is top notch too..I ate the Gamberino with my hands because it was so delicious. Thank you all so much for making this a birthday I won't ever forget. In the words of Arnold.....I'll be back. Gimme a couple of weeks to recover. This was some kind of birthday

Very disappointed, upset & shocked that although they accepted our booking with my extremely well behaved Guide Dog, on outside table. The manager then said ‘don’t bring her again, some people don’t like it’. Then said later ‘oh it’s ok, some people try it on’. I had mine & her Guide Dog ID visible. Just wondering - What’s the policy on Guide Dogs? Or anyone with a disability? I definitely Wouldn’t visit here if you want an inclusive, supportive environment. Very sad as used to be a lovely place & only experienced this since it became ‘the New Boar’

Work commitments meant I had to find somewhere local to Loughton for an overnight stay I found this gem of a place Room had almost everything I needed, apart from a USB socket but worked through that little issue. Clean, modern and quiet. Food in the restaurant was fantastic, tasty, plentiful, balanced and beautiful on the plate Will be returning again when the need arises Staff were lovely and pleasant and nothing was too much trouble. Keep up the great work!

They were fabulous, steak tartare was amazing, Erin mess was the best my wife ever had. Wine selection/price very good. Will I return, he’ll yes!!!. Thank you to the team at the amazingly refurbished NEW Boar

We visited The Blue Boar for lunch today and were really impressed by Chef’s home-made steak and ale pie. It was delicious. The service was really good, and the ladies who waited on us were attentive, friendly, and could not have been more helpful. Oh yes, and the bread and butter pudding with vanilla ice- cream was to die for. Thanks to all the staff who made our experience really enjoyable 😊. Best regards Clive Alexander

Our second stay at the blue boar . Great vibe and postion . Cafe restaurant next door provides an excellent breakfast. Good value given the location . The staff are great and clearly care obout the place . The housekeeper requires special mention. Huge credit to them for how they dealt with an issue over the heating and hot water which was beyond their control . We will be back

We booked two rooms here to be near a friend's birthday party venue. The rooms were clean but basic (at £120 per night bed and breakfast one would expect more). In the morning we discovered we had only one bath towel the shower screen was leaky so the floor was very wet and slippery. Our friends in the next room had only a hand towel and no hot water! When we called the number for the pub to complain there was no answer. We were given a voucher for breakfast at the cafe affiliated with the pub/hotel. It took an hour to get breakfast! When we went to pay for breakfast we were told that the vouchers were for £10 per ROOM! Again, at £120 one would expect more than a £5 breakfast. When someone in our party went back to complain, the person on duty was NOT at all interested. Clearly we would not go back or recommend The Blue Boar!
