We have spent time in the Posthotel in Achenkirch for many years. It is no doubt a great place and we selected it because of food, wellness, horses and region. Unfortunately, over the years we noticed that the quality of our stays declined gradually. We tried to communicate with the staff, hotel director and manager but our feedback has not made a change. For example a big concern for us was the situation with the horses: The hotel has beautiful horses, offers carriage rides and horse riding but the horses are kept in closed stalls, no chance for horses to socialize beside the short amount of time they can spend in the pasture/paddock. One 5 year old Lipizzaner, super sensitive horse, was there and not much trained, locked in and no socializing. The answer from the hotel regarding our concern was that the paddocks are currently under improvements. Their point was that the training of the horse is professional and "soft" and takes time. We fully agree that training cannot be rushed but needs to be regular, which was not the case. The mare also went lame and the response was that she must have gotten stiff from a carriage ride. If a training is "soft", do you really expect a lame horse and no vet care for days afterwards? I don't want to go into more details here, we were in communication with the hotel director and you can make your own opinion. Combining a hotel with animals is an amazing concept but the ongoing improvements of hotel facilities also needs to benefit the welfare of the animals. The general response we received over the years was always that this would be looked into and improved, but so far it has not. Also food, sauna events, hospitality trended down and it is not what it used to be. We travel a lot and get to see many hotels. There are many options and therefor at the moment we choose other places where we feel like the quality improves with the price.
