As a new world digital nomad, have been staying at a nearby location for a few months, The lure of a spa tub, contained air filtration system to help battle the winter blues, and organic construction materials pulled me in,. Nothing disappointed. I have just returned from my second stay, refreshed and reviced. Parking is a short walk away at the public trail parking. You can check yourself in, unpack into your room, head out for a bite to eat, or draw a tub right away. Avalon toiletries, really comfy bed, soft cotton sheets. No scents of cleaning priducts. I never realized how annoying they are until hey aren't there. My allergy symptoms disappear here. Kitchen has coffee and tea options, breakfast option- toast, yogurt, fruit Plenty of space in the fridge to store your stuff, There are Roku tv's in the rooms, i turned mine on only for a short while for some background noise when other room noise was a little loud. Not a lengthy problem, and nothing horrendous, just the spa tubs or steam showers. Really nice place to stay for a bit, the art work decorating the rooms and common areas is nice, many many art books to read, and a set of stretch cards I meant to take a peek at. Will I return? Yes indeed.

Noise insulation is NOT good, and lots of light comes through around and under the door.

Great place to prepare for a day hiking and skiing
The Trail in Adams offered me exactly what I needed: a quiet and convenient place prepare for a day in the woods the next day. Very convenient walking to nearby restaurants, right in the middle of Adams. There was a snowstorm that night, and the walks were shoveled several times that evening and the next morning.

I gave The Trail 4 stars because Management did everything they could to accommodate me, but they fell short. I am writing this review to warn others who have MCS or fragrance allergies. I have MCS and this place came recommended to me under its former name, The Topia. Please be advised that when ownership changed hands, standards for non-toxic products also changed. I spoke to the housekeeper and she said she only cleans with white vinegar, but I was reacting to various surfaces she touched, like the bedding. Also, my breakfast dishes had residual fragrances on them. After some investigating, I realized the kitchen had scented dish soap with D-Limonene and Mrs. Meyers hand soap which contains the ingredient "fragrance." I realized that if staff and guests were washing their hands with Mrs. Meyer's soap, they are transferring fragrances to everything they touch. If you have mild MCS, you might be okay here. They do indeed use a lot of unscented products. I verified that the laundry detergent was Seventh Generation (fragrance free) and I did notice a small bottle of unscented Dr. Bronner's Castile soap in the kitchen. I will say they're on the right track with great intentions but I still cannot recommend this lodging for anyone with MCS. Unfortunately, The Trail does not have a policy about the products that other guests bring in or use during their stay. When I arrived the first night, a guest in the room next to me was wearing so much cologne that the scent made its way into my room. The management moved me to two different rooms in effort to help me get away from the irritant. They also offered me a partial refund for my visit. I am grateful that they did their best, but I won't be returning. This is not the place for you if you have moderate to extreme sensitivities. However, if you're looking for a cute, fun artsy place to take some good IG pics, this is it!

Not professionally designed or managed.
Charming, quirky place but clearly not designed nor operated by hospitality professionals and it shows everywhere. Roku is not an OK alternative to cable TV, the sinks are cool looking but unhygienic, the tubs lack handrails, there are no desks in the rooms, there are no mechanical locks on the doors… the list goes on. Parking situation leaves much to be desired. Just too expensive to have to tolerate so many shortcomings. It’s pretty clear that this owner has other plans for this property (likely cast housing for her adjacent theater), and this hospitality things is an interim cash flow generator. Great for her. Not so great for her paying guests.

A lovely small Inn with a fun self-service kitchen
A lovely small Inn, with beautiful rooms and art. We loved the self-service kitchen for breakfasts, snacks and coffee/teas at any time! Great service!

It is definitely a unique and beautiful property. We loved the overall experience. Only downside: the noise of the ventilation system. It was so awful and loud (peaks every 30 mins, not consistent...) that we've got difficulties to sleep. Hope this could be fixed by the owner.

We spent a splendid night at The Trail. People were very friendly and extremely helpful when my son forgot his watch in the room. The place is very clean and beautifully renovated. Excellent for hiking Mt. Greylock or the Appalachian Trail.
