"The hotel was very clean, and the staff were incredibly polite. It was definitely worth the money I paid. I also got to try both types of private open-air baths, and the in-room open-air bath was spacious enough. All the meals were delicious and thoroughly satisfying. My only minor disappointment was that the next course was brought out very quickly, one after another, before I had even finished the previous one. This might have been because we had the 8 PM dinner slot. I'd recommend booking your dinner time early if you can. I wasn't able to choose and only had the 8 PM slot available. Also, I was advised that the earlier breakfast slots were recommended and that other times might not allow me to fully enjoy the meal, but that wasn't the case at all. Everything was fine."

"This was an extremely poor experience with no customer-centric approach whatsoever 👎👎👎: there was absolutely no service response, staff attitude was extremely rude, and handling was utterly inflexible. To make matters worse, despite falling seriously ill during my stay, I received zero care or consideration, and my request for a partial refund was flatly denied. Given the exorbitant price and complete lack of service, it was terrible value. "The explanation of the accommodation and the hot spring was very gentle and thorough. When we arrived in our room, there were manju (sweet buns) waiting for us, and the room itself was very clean. The breakfast was also absolutely delicious! We are extremely satisfied and would love to come back again!"

"This was my first experience with a semi-open-air onsen in Japan, and it had a wonderful nostalgic charm. The environment was peaceful and comfortable, with the inn surrounded by a forest. I was fine with a few small insects passing by. The Kaiseki dinner had a great variety of ingredients. They also had staff who spoke English, which was a big plus! It's definitely best if you're driving. I would go again!"

"Overall, Kizunoniwa is definitely better than Konoha. Dinner was a delicious Japanese meal served in a private dining room, and breakfast was also good. My only minor complaint was that the rice wasn't quite up to Japanese standards. The location is quite far out. If you're heading to Ueno Station in the city, leaving the hotel at 9 AM and having a smooth journey, you'd likely arrive around 1 PM. The hotel shuttle takes ten minutes to the bus stop, then it's an hour and a half by bus to Karuizawa, and another hour-plus from Karuizawa to Ueno. The main delays are due to waiting for various connection times. It snowed on our second day, which was truly beautiful. I'd love to come back during autumn leaf season if possible."
