CHC Marilena Hotel

A visit in April 2024 to Hotel Marilena made some wonderful memories to last a lifetime. We went on our first family trip with a child and were blessed to choose this hotel. The staff greeted and treated us like family members. The waiters and bar tenders were enthusiastic and helpful, not only with drinks and foods but also with recommendations and friendly support. The food deserves to be ranked by 5 stars, is really worth eating there, and serves well for vegans, vegetarians, gluten-free diets, low-fat or no-fat diets as well. Always two or three sorts of meat and fish, so fresh and tasty. The beds were comfortable, the room was tidied and new towels were brought every day. The TV worked perfectly with some radio stations installed. The pool was spacious, as well as the lounges around it. The hotel offers some indoor and outdoor games too. The sea, with a sandy, clean beach and a pleasant entrance to the sea to swim, is only 5 minutes away. The location is brilliant, as the bus stop is right at the gate, and one can travel to the city center by bus No. 1 in about 25 minutes, as well as return by bus No. 6 straight away. Easy access to the airport - same bus, just a 40-minute ride. The taxi stop is at the very gate as well - easy access to any place of Crete. A car rental office and some shops are just round the corner. Will definitely come back again. Love from Laura

You can say you've seen bigger 4-star hotels, some of them were newer... but it doesn't matter. PEOPLE MAKE THE DIFFERENCE!! It was this team that made our unforgettable vacation. Their service, smile, willingness to help and kindness created an extraordinary atmosphere. In addition, great cuisine, varied dishes and rooms perfectly cleaned every day. P.S. If your hotel manager is reading this, I am applying for a salary increase for employees :)

We stayed 10 days in this hotel with all-inclusive formula. This allowed us to have breakfast, lunch, dinner and free access to the pool bar at anytime we wanted (until 11:00pm!). Nice staff, available 24h in the Reception. They gave us the opportunity to shower after check-out, coming back from the last beach day. Big pool, big restaurant with a romantic garden. Crete is wonderful, go and have a visit!! Efcharistò to everyone that made my holiday a unique experience! (I appreciated the concrete help from the hotel to the cat colony that roams the facility. Amazing food and) The staff are very kind throughout the hotel, restaurant and bars and work hard to keep guests satisfied. Visited this hotel in Aug , quick transfer from airport. Room was nice we were in main block but balcony was overlooked by another block so no privacy. Not that it bothered us really. We loved saying morning to other guests to get a complete blank back. Don't think they were happy to be on holiday. All staff were lovely it's nice to acknowledge them as the hours they work and just a thankyou would be nice for them. Food was nice plenty of choice but usual buffet, would say wasn't keen on the fish a bit strong tasting. My kids loved the puddings. After 7 days we started eating out to try local restaurants for a change. Nice to help the local eateries aswell. Beach was 5mins walk and sunloungers were free if you got a drink from the beach restaurants. They would take your order from sunlounger. Coke 2.50 euro Resort itself was really quiet in the evening , no entertainment at hotel but we knew this. The crepe lady was amazing at the pool bar And last the swimmingpool was massive and warm. Not gonna lie it was really bad experience. If i could id rate it a 0 but i can only do 1. First off the condition of the room was terrible compared to other hotels in the area which were cheaper and better. The food was the only thing i liked it was good and it tasted good the staff were friendly and could speak english but you could get bored very quickly there were no activitys a small swimming pool with no slides and no entertainment. I found it very poor. The cleansliesness was not good they didnt do a thorough clean. I do not reccomend this place.

Our 7 night stay at this hotel was pretty good. The staff was very kind, helpful and friendly. We loved it. Our room with the pool view was not bad, but the bathroom too tight, especially shower. There was quite good selection of meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Unfortunately we did not liked the coffee from coffee machine and orange juice, because it was a bit watery. The whole area was very comfortable and beautiful - pool area was nice, there is many sunbeds, also we liked the small garden, where you can eat. Hotels location is pretty close to the beach, bus station and huge selection of restaurants and shops. Also, hotel has some space for parking, so it is good for those, who are renting a car during the stay. All in all, we liked it and we would definitely recommend this hotel. Thank You!

Pros: Hotel is on the good place, ca 500 meters from the very nice beach, near to airport in Heraklion. Personnel in the hotel was fine and nice, they are doing their job very well and people were typical Greek - I like them! Rooms was cleaned every day, changed towels and bedding too. Personal prepared us snack when we wanted to travel around the island. Near to hotel are very nice Taverns and a lot of car rental to rent a car for a traveling through to island for a good prince even in main season. Cons: This is not a 4 stars, but 3 stars. Why? The bathroom was not in the best condition (bathtub) and what was the worst - food in the hotel in all inclusive program. Breakfast was fine, but launches and dinners was horrible - many options, but not tasty. Beverages was the cheapest what is possible to buy, juices was maybe some 20% concentrate, coke and so on from post mix in bad quality. Deserts, ice cream was the cheapest and not good too. Alcohol drinks and wine which was included all inclusive were one of the worst things which we had in the mouth. However, the food in the nearby taverns was perfect, Greek cuisine is great, unfortunately not in this hotel - maybe I expected higher standard of quality, I don't judge food by quantity and it is different between me and most of the people. This was my first all inclusive program and I’m sure last one. Watching people waste food is a horrifying experience, some people put on maybe 10 plates and don't eat 5 of them. Food waste does not belong in the 21st century. Total results: if you want to stay on good place and if you like the food/gastronomy and meet nice and willing people, you can choose this hotel, but only with breakfast not with all inclusive. Around is so many tavernas when is possible to get good food for 8-12€ for person, 1-1,5 € for 1 liter of water, 1/2 liter of good Crete wine for 4-5 €, and after eat you get free small desert, fruit and around 150 ml of Rakije, which is local spirit (distilled alcohol) and all this in good atmosphere by great Greek people, sometimes with local live music.
