St. Nicolas Bay Resort Hotel & Villas

From the moment we arrived, late & tired, we were treated wonderfully by the staff. They provided a welcome drink, late dinner & showed us our room. We had a sea view suite, with two balconies, one covered & one uncovered. The room was large with so many places to sit! I found the bureau area great for hair & make up as it had a large lit up mirror. Lots of storage & a large bed made for a comfortable stay. The fridge was a silent pull out drawer & it was fine to use, along side the chargeable offerings inside. We were gifted a bottle of rose, some Greek sweets & there was a fancy coffee maker, with a selection of flavours. We were also left two bottles of water each evening. Our great shower was over a huge jacuzzi bath, which initially I thought was inferior to a walk in, but I actually had 3 baths over our 11 night stay & enjoyed them. We were upstairs (low rise buildings only) with a lovely view. We never heard a thing at night & rarely during the day, so peaceful. The resort is spread over a large area and everywhere is beautifully laid out & comfortable. The hotel beach is stunning & the plentiful sunbeds super comfortable. The pool is gorgeous, although we preferred swimming in the sea. Breakfast was fabulous, by the pool, served & buffet options. Dinner was really good, again main course served & other courses a buffet. Great authentic greek options. Spotlessly clean throughout. On Saturday evening we were invited to drinks by the pool & chatted to the general manager, who was very present throughout our stay. We hired canoes on the hotel beach which was fun. The cocktails were great (not strong) & the wine list gorgeous! We got very familiar with Greek (mostly Cretan) wine during our stay. The staff were polite & welcoming throughout our entire stay. We rarely go back to the same hotel/town, but would definitely return here in the future. The town is a 30 minute walk, along the sea & has lots to offer. There was a cliff diving competition on the lake too, whist we were there. We visited Elounda twice & Malia (don’t bother) as well as Spinalonga by boat, very interesting. We had a wonderful stay at St Nicolas Bay & would recommend it 100%. Thank you for a fabulous holiday.

The whole experience at the Hotel felt really special from the arrival at reception to the private transfer back to the airport. The management and staff are to be congratulated on their attentiveness, professionalism and their general friendly demeanour - we were made to feel part of a large, welcoming family even though it was only our first visit - many of the other guests had been part of that "family" for numerous years, coming back time and time again! Our room was spacious with two sea-view balconies (ok one had a bit of a tree in the way), effective air-con (which was needed!) with a comfortable bed and loads of out-of-the-way storage space. Walking down to breakfast, or down to the pools was like walking through an old village with lots of interesting corners, passageways, trees and bushes - everything was sparkling clean with white walls and natural stone everywhere. Plenty of available comfy sunbeds, umbrellas, cosy corners, deckchairs & sofas down by the pool and beach areas, along with easy access to the warm waters of the sea. Food was mainly very good, though we did have one unacceptable dish which was reported and sorted totally to our satisfaction - thankyou to the management for that! We would definitely visit again - it's that good!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Great location, great service, great food. We were in this hotel to visit the Eastern part of Crete and it was fabulous. The arrival with personal greeting, a tour of the property and other nice small attentions. The swimming pools are also great, with one for sportive people different from the one for sun bathing people and some rooms with personal small pools. The half pension was great with good breakfast buffet, a good starter buffet at dinner, a nice choice of main courses, then a good dessert buffet.

End of an amazing 7 day break from start to finish. We have been absolutely spoilt by manager Alex and his lovely staff, special thanks especially to Maria and Lisinda. This is a relatively small hotel with brilliant customer service, superbly run and maintained. The views, pool, food, staff couldn't be faulted. 7 days of lovely peace and quiet which seems to be the general vibe of the hotel. Lots of sunbeds, no rushing out with towels, all very civilised. Would happily come back and reccomend.

A fantastic week in this first class hotel. The staff were all so friendly and helpful it made for a great holiday. The food was very good and we used the main restaurant all week. It was a nice easy walk to the town with plenty of bars and tavernas for lunch. We will be back.

My husband and I stayed here a couple of weeks ago and had a wonderful time. Our room was a sea view 2 bedroom suite with private hot tub on a half board stay. The food was good quality with a fair amount of options. We also enjoyed the bar cocktails after dinner. The beach and pool areas had plenty of space to lounge, though I'd recommend visiting Almyros beach (10 mins drive,30 mins walk) for a beautiful sandy beach. The Agios Nikolaos town centre is also a convenient 30 min walk away. The staff were friendly and helpful , and our room was kept sparkling clean every day. Overall an exceptional hotel - really enjoyed our 5 nights here.
