VIVA Sunrise

The rooms and common areas are impeccably clean. Staff are friendly and attentive. Spacious, comfortable rooms with great amenities. Exceptional service and engagement by staff. No daily housekeeping on Sundays.

Really torn on what to give Viva Sunrise, either 3 or 4 stars. Personally, I think it falls somewhere in-between. However, given the staff were so helpful, friendly and very hard working it seems somewhat unfair to rate as 3 stars. Quite alot to discuss around the hotel. We opted for the club level and had a one bedroom apartment with a sofa bed. This was on the 5th floor but critically given a poolside view. The downside of this was obvious from 1st night as we directly above the stage area outside. The noise was considerable and very difficult to sleep until it finished somewhere around 11pm. We managed to change rooms to a room on the other side a few days later and it was much better with a mountain view and alot quieter. Now, for the aforementioned nightly entertainment. Absolutely awful, even our kids were not interested in it and would rather goto the small park and play football. The park was ok with a bouncy castle which our kids loved, and the football pitch was was very popular as well. The main pool area. Was always busy, with the usual story of loungers and beds being reserved early. However, the separate club level area wasnt like that, and you could always get a bed later in the morning. Note - the club level has a separate pool and hot tub which is great when you want to get away from busy main pool area. I was told the club level had table service but I rarely saw any servers there. The big dome in the main pool was great fun for the youngsters, but I fear there could be serious accident before long. It is not managed well to the pool attendants. You have children bouncing down it all the time, yet there are children swimming around it and getting too close. I saw a few very near misses where a child coming down the dome almost clattered in the child swimming around it. It needs a constant eye on it from the staff. Childrens entertainment - unfortunately our children didn't really engage with it much because they seemed to fall in-between the levels. Too old for the young club (ie. Toddlers) but not old enough for the older club (need to be at least 7). They would have enjoyed the archery and axe throwing but we're not allowed. Food - we opted we all inclusive. Breakfast seemed pretty good to me with a vast selection of hot and cold food, plus drinks. Lunch and Dinner (Buffet) there were some things done well but others were not. Everything that was cooked on the hot plate was overcooked, so it was dry and on the tough side. As was the Tuna - too dry. However, there were some selections that were very good. The Spanish meatballs and Braised veal stans out for me. Whilst they cater for Gluten Free diets, there seemed to be distinct lack of dairy free options. My wife and son both have dairy allergies but there were no options for dairy free ice cream or cheese. The snack bar was very handy to get drinks throughout the day and food at lunchtime. For those staying more than 7 nights on all inclusive you get a free meal

Always a pleasure to be back, the best familyhotell in Alcudia for sure! Good food, nice rooms and friendly faces everywhere :) We will be back next year!
