So, five days at the end of August with the CAI (Italian Alpine Club), the focus was on walking and being outdoors. This is a typical hotel where you're just supposed to sleep. The rooms are very dated (the hotel was built in 1971), and some tell me they have new bathrooms, but not the single room I stayed in. The bed was clean, but the bathroom was barely usable because you couldn't turn around, and the shower didn't flush and didn't have a water heater. The best thing about the hotel is the space, the beautiful panoramic terrace, the location, and the view of Mount Civetta and Mount Pelmo. It's the only hotel in Coi, a small village at 1,400 meters, which can be reached from the valley via a small road in five minutes by car. The village is beautiful, with stunning renovated Tabia' (typical huts) and typical houses, fountains, flowers, etc. Several trails lead from the village toward Mount Pelmo, which looms high above the village. A magnificent place, but sadly, it's stuck in the 1970s in terms of construction, furnishings, areas, and decor. A patina of dust seems to be covering everything. The restaurant offers cafeteria-like service and food, with a barely adequate breakfast. The family-run business is discreet. I understand that renovating such a large building is a significant financial commitment, but then the price should be reasonable, which it isn't, because a single room with half board costs €90 a day. In the lobby, there's a lectern with a draft of the hotel's renovation project, which I hope will be implemented, but which now sounds tiredly ironic given the current state. I'm sorry, but it's right that this is known.
