Ibersol Almuñecar Beach & Spa Hotel ★★★★

📍 P.º San Cristóbal, s/n, Granada, Almunecar

"The facilities are quite good, the pool is not very big but acceptable, the food is not bad but could be better and a little more variety, the rooms are very good and have good views, the bad thing was that I forgot to put it as non-smoking and it smelled strongly of tobacco, I did not try to change it because we really liked the views, the entertainment is not bad but it is a little or maybe too much designed for the French tourists of which there were many, that is why it must be, for the rest 3 days of relaxation..."

Hotel San Sebastian Almuñécar ★★

📍 C. Trapiche, 18, Granada, Almunecar

"From the outside this gem is deceiving but from the warm welcome to a beautiful room with lovely view to the sea. Communal areas are spotlessly clean everywhere smelt fresh lots of attention to little details. We have paid lots more for awful places this is a beautiful little hotel with amazing facilities. The bathroom was spacious and well stocked the towels soft and fluffy. I really can't find anything wrong with this hotel we will definitely be back."

Bahía Almuñecar

Bahía Almuñecar ★★★★

📍 Avenida del Rey Juan Carlos I, 9, Granada, Almunecar

"We were supposed to be in the sister hotel at the east end of the town so there is just a small rooftop pool, although the hotel is close to the beach. It is much more central close to the old town and facilities. The hotel was fine, the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was generally good although the fish and meat off the grill tended to be overcooked. The meat and fish in sauces was much better. Room was clean although there were roadworks nearby and it could be a bit dusty. Apparently we were better off being on the higher floor, 4th, we also benefited being above the rooftops opposite."

Sol Los Fenicios ★★★★

📍 P.º Andrés Segovia, S/n, Almunecar

"Very pleasant hotel in a wonderful location, a lucky find at the last minute. The hotel is well run and clean, we booked for 2 nights but were so relaxed stayed an extra night. We booked the full sea view room whose balcony looked directly out to sea with an incredible view, you could lie in bed with the balcony door open which was wonderful. We booked the half board option which should be avoided, the food was plentiful but not very good (not 4* anyway) and always stone cold. Needless to say to say, the extra night was just B&B. There are plenty of bars and restaurants close. The town was a real surprise with a peaceful yet vibrant feeling. We stayed mid week and had the feeling it got busier on the weekends. The rooftop pool was small but not too busy (midweek) with plenary of beds and parasols and also spotlessly clean."

📍 Urb. Torregalera Urb. Torregalera S/N, Almunecar

"Firstly the positives - pools are magnificent, beautiful views, very tranquil location, staff are all friendly and not a problem their English isn’t good, we are in a very unspoilt by tourism part of Spain. Extremely clean in all areas of this huge hotel, it’s immaculate. The pool animation team are great fun. Negatives - firstly only 2 elevators for over 700 rooms, lack of aircon in public areas of the hotel. The worst thing is the food - it’s never warm let alone hot, almost raw omelettes when cooked fresh. Raw parts of chicken when griddled, tasteless, food that none of us can eat & we have like trying different nationalities of food. We have had to have a taxi to the nearest town to eat out most nights and we are all inclusive The restaurant is like a cattle market, no atmosphere in the hotel. Be aware the nearest shop is over 2 miles away, do not underestimate how isolated this hotel is."

Arrayanes Playa Almuñecar ★★★

📍 P.º de Cotobro, 5, Almunecar

"The hotel is in an unbeatable location. Beautiful views of the sea. The hotel urgently needs a renovation of its furniture. That furniture was used during the filming of Alfredo Landa's first spicy film with Betty Mesiego and other average girls (I think that's what the film was called). And the toilet, it's another level! I don't even know how to describe it... it could be 50 years old. I wanted to make a special mention of a girl who claims to be a barista, and according to her there are few left in Spain (in Madrid there may be 80,000) hahahahaha let's see, her CCC course on coffee, she should go over it again. If I had her as an employee she wouldn't last in my business even 5 minutes. Besides being rude, she has no idea how to serve coffee. I'll leave it there. Customers go there to rest and for them to bring us a strong coffee with a little milk (double espresso with a little milk) or double cortado with a little milk x. Absolutely all of her colleagues made me divine coffee except for her. What a joke! She gave me free lessons on cup measurements about coffee. Do you think I was going to argue with you at that hour? In my business, I don't even give lessons on what I sell, much less tell them that they have no idea by constantly clicking my mouth. I am a professional and as such, when they ask me for something that doesn't match the name, I manage to sell them what they ask for, without giving lessons to anyone and without being rude. You have no idea how to serve people for a ******* coffee. Ahhhh, and another very serious thing! My husband went downstairs at 7 am to leave the hotel and the door was closed and NO ONE WAS THERE! He found another super scared client at the reception because she had been waiting there for 15 minutes and no one came. My husband obviously had to search through the drawers to find the keys and open it himself. IF A FIRE OCCURS THE DOOR IS CLOSED... I don't even want to imagine. Anyway... a stone's throw from the beach but overall I'd give it a 1."

La Tartana Hotel Boutique ★★★

📍 C. la Tartana, 1, La Herradura, Almunecar

"We had a week at this lovely boutique hotel and really enjoyed our stay. We were in room 2 which is large with king bed, aircon, balcony and frig, and a functional bathroom. Tony the host is delightful and warmly greeted us on arrival and showed us to our room, as opposed to handing us a key and wandering around aimlessly. Dinner and breakfast are served on the balcony each night and Tony and his wife cook the meals which are delicious and well priced. Wine is good too. It is a very friendly and delightful place to stay"

"This is a very good hotel. The rooms are big and very clean and I had a balcony. It's quiet and only about 200 metres from the beach. The breakfast buffet is excellent for a 3 star hotel, all the staff are friendly and helpful especially the lady who runs the restaurant. Parking is a problem in the whole of La Herradura. All in all I was very happy with my stay and the price was very reasonable."

"On arrival to the hotel approx 2pm we were told by the reception staff that our room wasn’t ready and that they were unsure when the room would be available. Meanwhile we were told to enjoy the lunch as a form of compensation for the wait - (myself and husband questioned if this was okay as we were half board and were only entitled to breakfast and evening meal) the lady said most definitely! Fab news for 3 hungry children and ourselves. 630pm we finally got our room after my husband kept checking with reception. Room was beautiful and very spacious. (3 bed apartment) large balcony- unpacked and then went down for evening meal around 830pm ish . To be confronted by a waiter saying we shouldn’t be eating there as we had lunch so therefore would have to pay for our evening meal. We explained what reception had said and he insisted we still had to pay. Meanwhile the waiter was talking amongst other waiters and we were getting stared at most the time ( leaving my 12 year old daughter uncomfortable and in tears thinking she was as doing wrong eating) we all left and headed to clear this up at reception. The lady we spoke to was no longer there we had a gentleman who laughed us off and said we have to pay. At this point we were quite annoyed as we questioned this on arrival to be told it was it was fine. The rest of our stay here we went out and brought breakfast and tea as we felt too uncomfortable in the restaurant area as we were still getting uncomfortable looks. Last day came and we handed our key cards into reception where we were told to pay the €75 for the meal charged to the room we had we told the lady who seemed to have been the manager what had happened and she was really upset and fuming and agreed with us that the gentleman on reception was quite rude and told us we didn’t need to pay the euros and couldn’t apologise enough she was shocked that we had to go out and buy our own food and didn’t eat in the restaurant for the rest of the week after paying half board. Apart from that the pool was amazing. Won’t be returning."

"The hotel is located in downtown Almuñecar, in a quiet neighborhood. Rooms have been renovated, mattress is comfortable, and the terrace is a plus. They have a rooftop where you can prepare a coffee or heat a meal. It also has a washing machine and dryer for laundry. Staff is kind and attentive."

"The hotel was amazing. I was a solo traveller and the stay where very friendly and helpful. This was my second time at the hotel and I must admit this was better than my first time at the hotel. Lots of improvement which I was glad to see. The only thing was some of the quest, they noticed I was a solo traveller and they took advantage of it. I was having my dinner one night and the table next to me put their dirty dishes on my table as I was eating. I picked the plates and put them back on thteir table and told them NO. Well this did not go down well. When I was a the table having my breakfast the following morning one of the ladies walked my me and knocked my table to the point I nearly lost my coffee. She looked back at me and smiled. I was so glad I only had a few days left part of me wanted to let have quest know what I thought of them. Best part of the people there were German and no very nice the others where friendly. There was a cleaning lady she was singing Christmas corals as I came out my room she got me to dance with her. Lol she was amazing and soo funny lol."

"This is a lovely, quaint, small hotel in a good location. The hotel only has around 40 bedrooms so it is quiet and ideal for couples. The food on the breakfast buffet was delicious and fresh. The evening food was acceptable but not great so we did eat out a couple of evenings. I can’t remember what it’s called but can recommend the restaurant almost directly opposite the hotel - situated on the beach. I can also highly recommend eating at a restaurant just a few doors down from the hotel - blue and white signage. Delicious pizzas and slow cooked lamb! Anyway, back to the hotel…I think some music in the restaurant there would be a welcome addition as it is so small with so few diners, it is almost silent at times! The staff are friendly & helpful - they humoured me as I practiced my Spanish! Our bedroom was spacious and clean; we payed a little more for a sea view which we enjoyed. The bed was a bit hard but we slept well - it was quiet except for the sound of the sea. The hotel is on a main(ish) road but it doesn’t get too busy. The beach is shingle and not sand. We sat around the hotel’s swimming pool a couple of times - it was a bit too cold to go into the water in May - and enjoyed the view from the roof of the hotel which is where the pool is situated. I would recommend this hotel for a peaceful couples / adults break."

"In short - the hotel has great facilities, but isn't easy to get to. The hotel makes no effort to assist visitors who arrive via the airport, other than offering to call a taxi (which may or may not be available). This means most of the visitors are Spanish (which suited us, as we wanted to avoid the ex-pat parts of Spain, although as we found out, anti-social behaviour isn't an English monopoly). Will we be back? Probably not. The Good: Although there was only one hotel restaurant open (being at the end of season), the buffet range was excellent for every meal (the selection gets even better at the weekend when the hotel is at its busiest). There is always chefs cooking fresh omlettes / steaks/ fish/ crepes, depending on which meal time. American food like burgers and pizza are available at the bar, not the restaurant, and are a disappointment. The restaurant does occasionally make modest attempt at British staples like mashed potato and baked beans, but always had the consistency of soup and looked inedible. We went as a large family group. The kids all had a great time, the kids club has its own playground and the staff are amazing. The scenery of the mountains and coast is stunning, particularly from the rear of the hotel where the infinity pool is. Even the standard rooms have good views. The Bad: Not easy to get to, poor public transport links. The hotel doesn't even recommend a company for hotel transfers. Taxis are around £100 each way to Malaga. The nearest shop is 20 min walk away and is open sporadically. The immediate environs is very steep paths and roads and not suitable for people with mobility issues. Information is sparse. There was no welcome pack or information at the front desk or in the rooms. We had no idea of the facilities, the layout, what was or wasn't available due to the time of year. The bulletin board posts activities but doesn't explain where anything is. We found out about most things too late. This involved visiting the front desk far more than should have been necessary. The staff were amazing, and most are multilingual and very patient. When it comes to maintenance, as soon as issues were highlighted (which happened three times while we were there) the maintenance turned up immediately to help. However, there seems to be an organisational dysfunction in other ways. Our room (a double / family room) only had ONE blanket between the four of us. Being October, the weather wasn't always perfect, and having to huddle together under one blanket didn't give the best night's sleep. We visited the reception REPEATEDLY pointing at pictures of blankets but were never given any extra. Being the end of the season, the pools had clean water but had slime at the bottom. Despite the excellent food, dinner service is not relaxing. I understand the intensity the chefs have to work at, but the same urgency should not be visible front-of-house by the waiting staff. My first visit to dinner was when I found out tha"

"While the hotel facilities were satisfactory, I found the woman staff at the reception to be unfriendly and arrogant. They expected guests to speak perfect Spanish, even though we were on vacation. Additionally, it was frustrating to have to reserve a spot at the pool every day. On a positive note, the food was good, but the cleaning service was subpar - my refrigerator was very dirty. This detracted from the overall experience and made for a stressful vacation. I do want to mention that the man at the reception was very polite and helpful, which was appreciated. I hope this feedback can help you improve the guest experience at your hotel."
