📍 Ormos Aegialis, Amorgos

"We stayed in this hotel for three nights in mid-May. The hotel is situated on the hill above the Port. We believe it has 18 rooms and is set on several levels in the hillside. We reached the hotel by taxi from Katapola (which the hotel can arrange at a discount) but there are ferry services into the port at Aegiali. The walk from the port is uphill but would take no more than 10 minutes with luggage. We are uncertain how the hotel addresses guests with mobility problems but during our stay one guest on crutches managed very well. Guests in wheelchairs would have some difficulties on the island if not in the hotel. The hotel sits within a built up environment and there are no gardens but the access areas are softened with local planting. The reception area is a large airy room immediately accessed a few steps from the main road. There is some soft seating in the reception area but it does not, by design, encourage lounging. The reception room lets on to a pool area which is terraced and with sufficient sun beds, tables and chairs. There is a small bar. Beyond the pool on one of the lower levels is the breakfast room. Our room was on the top floor and called “Isle Essence Sea View”. We had a soft seating area with a desk and chair – adequate for casual working, along the length of both the bedroom and the seating area was a plinth that could be used as a shelf or to sit upon. There was a full width and fairly deep balcony, accessed from the seating area, with table and chairs but there was no shade. The bedroom was open to the entire room and really only had a bed. At the other end of the room there was a refrigerator, tea and coffee making facilities and sufficient space for clothes on a hanging rail with a couple of drawers. There was a small safe. There was a walk in shower and the hand-basin was separate from the shower room. There was also a separate WC. Bed linen and towels were good quality. Aircon was efficient and wifi was good. Everything was well kept, clean and comfortable – our only anxiety arose from a concrete bed base which became a step down into the room and needed to be remembered at all times! Housekeeping was OK. We only took breakfast at the hotel and we do not believe it serves other meals – although in high season the bar may do snacks. Breakfast was a combination of a la carte and a buffet – food was good. The staff in the restaurant all spoke good English. The room, however, is not endearing. It was clean and functional but did not encourage any loitering. The whole of the seafront road can be walked in 20 minutes. This road and those side streets running from it contain enumerable restaurants, bars, tourist shops, bakeries, supermarkets etc. Beyond the end of the seafront and lining the beach are more restaurants. During our stay we encountered no groups of visitors in the hotel. Staff were always friendly and professional and multi-tasked! Nearly everything about this hotel "

"Modern and well located, halfway between the port of Katapola and the old town of Chora. Essential car. Very friendly welcome from the manager who takes the trouble to detail all the points of interest on the island on a map. Well-equipped room, beautiful view of Katapola Bay. Own. Good breakfasts. A great choice to stay in Amorgos."

"What can you say about Lakki Village Family Beach Hotel & the island of a Amorgos ? They are both great. We stayed at the Lakki Village for 8 days and could not find any thing negative. The room, the pool, the garden, breakfast & the restaurant were first class. All the staff were friendly, helpful & efficient, especially Janis & his team at the pool bar.Plus the sandy beach is 5 steps from the hotels terrace. Amorgos is a medium size island in the cyclades, just over 1 hour by ferry from Naxos. It had just about everything Naxos offers but smaller.Excellent walking, sandy beaches, pretty mountain villages, excellent greek tavernas, bars & cafes.Plus Lakki Village Family Beach Hotel."

Aqua Petra ★★★
"The most disastrous stay of my life. The room hadn't been thoroughly cleaned in years. The upholstery smelled bad, the surfaces were never dusted before or during my stay, and the toilet was full of residue from previous guests' "visits" when I arrived. The fridge was still full of stuff from previous guests, as was a kitchen cabinet. The freezer compartment had a broken door full of ice. The French window was defective, the mosquito netting was broken at the top. The kitchen sink had hair. The bathroom sink countertop had soap residue from previous guests. And the bathroom was generally filthy. The pungent smell of cigarettes, food, and dirt meant I had to air it out 24 hours a day, including overnight. Fingerprints and items left behind were everywhere, with no idea who owned them or what they were for. The lamp outside the entrance wasn't on. Not to mention the very sad breakfast, poor quality, and everything seemed dirty and unkempt. The sun loungers by the beach were mostly very old, with adjacent areas for debris. The staff is completely unqualified and unprofessional. It feels like a place completely abandoned, with no attention to customer needs."

"overpriced, small rooms and swimming pool that is difficult to enjoy due to either too much salt or chlorine. Better spending your money at Laki Village, right on the beach. Location is OK if you want to be on a busy road heading out of Aegiali Bay."

"We had briefly stopped by for one night last year and had already appreciated the charm of this hotel; so we decided to stay there for a full week this time. The rooms are bright, very clean, and the balconies offer a sublime view of the bay of Katapola and Xylokeratidi. Ideally located between Katapola and Chora, it is located 2 steps from a hiking trail that allows you to connect the two towns, if you prefer walking to a rental car. Andreas was a very attentive host, he helped us order a taxi when we needed it and rent a car for the second part of the stay. All his recommendations for restaurants, cafes and places to visit were very useful and quality. The continental breakfast offered many delicious traditional homemade dishes! An incomparable asset before a day of hiking. A wonderful stay, to do again without thinking!"

Lakki Village ★★★
"I stayed at this hotel for 1 night whilst on a business trip over the weekend and it was honestly the worst hotel iv ever stayed at. I arrived at 11pm at night, I was dropped by a shuttle bus outside the hotel and made my way in alone. It was pitch black and there was only 1 sign for the reception towards the back of the hotel. I walked the whole length of the hotel which is all outdoors at 11pm with no lighting and couldn't find the reception. Turns out reception was closed so I waited for 15 minutes in the dark on the main road alone (single girl) until someone could come and show me to my room. The gentleman who came complained that I arrived too late and showed me to a disgusting room that looks nothing like the images. Old wooden chipped flooring, mould on the walls and chipped tiles. It also smelt so strongly of stale smoke. I wanted to take a shower as I had been out since 5am that morning and I discovered there was no towels, no hot water and no drinking water in the fridge. The fridge in the room was off and empty. Unfortunately I couldn't find anyone to rectify these things for me as it was late at night with no one to talk to but fortunately I was out of there at 9am the next morning."

Hotel Minoa ★★
"A great hotel just a hop and skip (well, 30 second walk :-) ) from the ferry. We received a warm welcome and were shown to our room which overlooked the small square in Katapola and out to sea. We found the room very comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the balcony watching the world go by after our days exploring the island. The hotel rooms are above a bakery so although we didn't opt for the buffet breakfast we were able to chose lovely baked goods for breakfast (and other snacks during the day). Katapola itself has a good selection of places to eat and proved to be an ideal base for exploring the island."

"The studios are in a very convenient location, between Katapoli and Chora. They are fully equipped, clean, comfortable, with a nice view. There is free space on the street for parking and access is very easy. What stands out is the behavior of the staff. Elena and Andreas are unique. They will treat you to baked raki, they will give you a map with all the information about the island, they will help you with everything you need. I highly recommend it to anyone going to beautiful Amorgos and wants to complete their experience with a stay in a remarkable accommodation with wonderful people."

Vigla Hotel ★★★★
"From Vigla hotel you have a fantastic view of Aegiali when eating the excellent breakfast of divine greek yoghurt. You are best of with a rental car and it is almost an hours drive to reach the south of the Island. But it is well worth to have Vigla as your base. The walks from the hotel to Aegiali or down to the sea are not super esay but well worth the effort. Staff is great, service and cleaning impecable. Only thing that could improve slightly is the restaurant."
