Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Amsterdam
4.5/5101 Reviews
Everything was great. The room was clean. The staff was friendly. The room had a fridge, coffee maker, and microwave. I did not use any of the other amenities offered, nor did I have the continental breakfast so I can't speak about those. As a place to lay my head for the night, I couldn't ask for more.

Amsterdam is the capital city of the Netherlands. It is the most populous city in the country, with a megalopolis population of over 8.1 million. The total area of the Amsterdam megalopolis is over 3000 kilometres squared. The city has a lot of canals, and as a consequence of this fact it is colloquially known as “Venice of the North”. The canal system of Amsterdam forms a unit which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city of Amsterdam is one of the major financial hubs of the whole of Europe. The Globalization and World Cities study considers Amsterdam to be an alpha world city. This highly urbanized city of North Holland province is washed by the river Amstel that supplies and connects most of the canals of the city. The total length of Amsterdam’s canal system is over a hundred kilometres. Due to the proximity of this region to the North Sea, its climate is somewhat oceanic. The place receives cool winters and warm summers with a primary prevalence of westerly winds. Summers can sometimes get humid and hot in here, and occasionally there can be a little snowfall in the winters too. The place has got a fair share of rainy months too.

The airport uses one terminal concept where all the facilities are present under one roof. This terminal is divided into three sections as different halls connected with concourses or piers for facilitating ease of administration and movement in the airport. Getting to Amsterdam from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol takes about 20 minutes by road. Taxis to the city charge about 34 £ for the ride. One can also take a train (about 10 £, 20 minutes) or a bus (about 9 £, 35 minutes) to get from the airport to Amsterdam city.

One can get these cards on an hourly basis or on a daily basis from 1 to 7 days. The system in Amsterdam is working towards making the entire process cashless so they no longer encourage cash as a mode of payment. Tickets etc. can be bought by using debit or credit cards. The hour based tickets can be bought on the trams or buses also from the conductor. Trams are the popular mode of commute in the city. Amsterdam trams have a distinct blue-white appearance.
