Kreta Natur

We have just returned from the most wonderful week at Kreta Natur! From the warmest of welcomes, to the farewell with the staff who had become friends. The apartment was lovely, with a generous balcony, and kept spotless by lovely Rosa. George and Maria have put so much thought into creating a peaceful and beautiful place to relax. The pool is lovely, the gardens and multiple seating areas kept immaculate! Nico is a cocktail genius, and such a friendly guy! If you are looking for peace and quiet and a welcoming family atmosphere, then Kreta Natur is just the ticket.

We have just spent a lovely week relaxing at Kreta Natur and will love to go back! On arrival at 2.30am, Nick was there to greet us with a friendly smile and showed us to our Suite. We are a family of two adults and two children, 12 & 9. We were advised when booking that the suite may be a little tight for 4 but as it comes with its own private terrace with room to eat and sunbath we decided to risk it. There was a double bed and double sofa bed which the children shared, this was a bit small due to their ages, probably best for one or two if younger. The suite was lovely and clean with a small kitchen and a bathroom with shower. We woke the next day and headed straight to the pool and bar where we where met by the owners, George and Maria who welcomed us. Throughout the stay they were always around ready to offer anything we needed and recommend local places to visit. At the bar we met Billy who makes the most fantastic Greek coffees and Greek bread, which is home made and I was lucky enough to be given a free cooking lesson! Billy is also the chef and his food is cooked fresh daily and is so good, it was honestly some of the best food we have eaten. We had fresh meatballs with homemade chips, potatoes, rice and Greek salad, followed by the most amazing Greek yogurt with black cherries. The pool is lovely and clean, with sunbeds always available. Its close to the bar and Billy, Nick or Jenna were always ready to serve you. Nick makes the best cocktails, there is no menu so he makes them on request or surprises you with one of his specials. We spent most nights trying them. The room was cleaned daily by Rosa and the towels and bedding are changed every other day which was just right. The whole site is clean and the gardens/pool area have some lovely touches which make the place unique, some designed by George himself! The area is rural so its worth hiring a car, we visited Spinalonga, and then drove through Elounda to Kolokitha Beach which is definitely worth a visit but go early or late as the roads are very narrow and it can get busy and hard to drive along, when you park at the top, there is a walk down the hill to the beach. We then drove to Agios Nikolas for some food and a walk around, we found the best restaurant with the most amazing apple jam, Se-Meli. Just arrived home after 2 weeks! What a fabulous place to stay..so quiet and relaxing. George & Maria, the owners, couldn't do enough for you. Rosa, the cleaner, was lovely, Bill, the Chef and Nico, the Barman were very attentive. We were very sad to leave and will definitely be going back.Thank you all for your hospitality! Absolutely amazing experience at Kreta Natur. George , Maria, Nik, and Bill wonderful. The pool is so relaxing and nothing was too much trouble.Nik made lovely non alcoholic cocktails for my daughter and Bill made a wonderful Pizza for her. When she went back for another Pizza he asked her what Pizza she wanted and she showed him a photo of her previous one which made him laugh. I really liked the room and it was lovely that my daughter had her own bed not just a sofa bed. There were lots of lovely little touches. The bed linen was embroidered with Kreta Natur. The bed was really comfortable as were the pillows. The kitchen space was sufficient to make omelettes and pasta and simple fish dishes. We loved it the whole place has so much charm

The room was a good size but was let down by the furniture and the kitchenette. The only chest of drawers was so narrow it was barely suitable for socks and every drawer stuck, as did the small drawers in the bedside tables. Aircon was free but the safe was €15 per week which I think should be included in the room price. The fridge was full size and not too noisy. The shower pressure was good but the water did vary from warm to scalding whilst running so be prepared to move quickly! The floor was also very slippy and there are no handles to grab if you do slip. The room isn't really suitable for self catering due to the lack of space and was missing several items I would have expected such as a corkscrew, bread knife, chopping board/worktop saver, wine glasses and a tea towel. There was a large gap in the main door which let in light and made me quite uncomfortable as it was opposite the bed so we had to block it by hanging a towel on the door each night. The traffic noise was also quite loud which may have been due to the gap, so may not be an issue in other rooms. Cleanliness wasn't great, there was quite a bit of dirt and grime around all edges of the room, and food in the drawers when we arrived. The bath mat wasn't changed throughout our stay, just hung to dry. The bathroom floor wasn't cleaned properly, the bin wasn't moved just mopped around. The table on the balcony wasn't wiped all week. Transfer from the airport was about an hour as we had 6 stops before our hotel. The nearest shop is the Spar, just past Yamanis restaurant, which is quite a steep hill on the way back so it would be helpful if the hotel sold large bottles of water for those without transport. Location is ok but wouldn't stay again as we don't drive and wouldn't recommend the nearest restaurants (Big Blue - food was dreadful, Yamanis - ridiculous prices) so had a long walk each night. Chersonissos was around a half hour walk downhill. Taxi back was 10 euros, taxi ranks easy to find on both sides of the main road. Anissaras was a nicer walk along the seafront and easy to do both ways, only slightly uphill on the way back. The first bar is around 10 mins walk and the nicer restaurants of Analipsi a further 40 minutes with plenty of bars along the way. Pool area was nice and quiet which is what we wanted. Pool is not heated. Bottled beer was €3.50, no draft available. Overall we enjoyed our holiday but we wouldn't stay here again due to the poor self-catering facilities and the remote location.

George & Maria were very nice as well as Nick our barman. The apartment was clean as well as surrounding areas. The pool was not heated so cold when you go in. Nick made us lovely juices & smoothies and was very kind & polite. Cost of drinks were about €6. Lovely place to go if you want a quieter atmosphere.
