All of these positive reviews are shocking to me, definitely planted for sure. I stayed on this property when it was the Candlewood a few years ago and it was ok. Just got back from there and it has REALLY gone downhill. Checked in, went up to my room and it smelled like stale cigarettes and bad decisions, went back down to the desk and the clerk immediately changed my room. she was the best part of my stay, very pleasant and trying hard to help me. She walked up with me and agreed that the room smelled. She walked me to the new room and it smelled better. After being there a few minutes alone and looking around, I realized that this was NOT going to be good. The phone was not plugged in and there was no where to plug it in. The dishwasher door was broken and there were dirty dishes in it. The chairs were ripped and had food stains, the refrigerator was old and dirty made a very startling loud clunking noise when it powered off. the cheap coffee pot was broken and unusable, there was popcorn and filth under the couch that looks like it been there for a LONG time. The clock wasn't set to the right time in the bedroom. it was very dusty, dirt in the drawers, hair in the tub, chairs ripped and food stains on them, nothing was replenished, no body wash, soap, extra towels, dish soap, NOTHING. It looked like it was a quick ”flush and dust” ( Barely) after the last guest. I headed down to the front desk to see if I can at least get some supplies (I passed an old sock on the floor in the hallway, which remained there for my entire stay) and I saw a housekeeper along the way, I thought maybe I can ask her for what I need, I said hello and she IGNORED ME! I continued down to the desk, was telling the clerk what I needed and I heard a voice coming from the back yelling to have the housekeeper go up and make it right. I then asked for the manager, she came out and the first thing out of her mouth was I gave you a discount for one night of your stay because you weren't happy. I told her that I didn't want the discount I just wanted to tell her about what was wrong and she may want to consider training the staff better, she was very ”Canned” in her responses telling me that they are rated up in the 90s, its a great property, the staff is amazing and she was very sorry, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH. She said there was a long term guest that stayed before me (SO I guess that's a good excuse?!) I asked her to come up to the room and see for herself because i didn't want to ”Be that girl” and just complain and she completely ignored my requested and wanted to send her housekeeper up to make it right, but I had to tell her if I wanted her to go up fast because she was leaving for the day!( The one with the attitude that totally ignored me when I tried to approach her on the way down? No thank you) The manager was so snarky and phony, When I realized that she would be ZERO help to me I respectfully thanked her and wished her a good day, she yelled no YOU HAVE A GOOD DAY, as I

Chose to stay here because it was super close to a family member’s condo. We stayed in Room 100. It was more private than the others because it was on the end. There were outside table and chairs, which was nice. The room faces a playground/picnic type area, so might have only been private because it was Winter. Kitchen: stove, fridge, small coffee maker, big sink, and random dishes/utensils. The fridge did not have an ice maker, so had to go to main office for that. Coffee pot was starting to rust on the bottom, but was good enough. Small bar with 2 barstools. Bathroom: heater on wall didn’t seem to work but it was not too cold in there, bathroom sink took a really long time to generate hot water, encountered 2 spiders (one was tiny and one long legged), tiny shampoo & soap provided (I recommend bringing your own soap/shampoo/conditioner/lotion), no hair dryer in room but was able to get one from front desk. Heater/register worked but would click on and off throughout the night (which woke me up), bed was comfortable enough, television was not the best (the edges of the picture were missing so couldn’t see game scores), small futon next to bed. Closet was small but had hangers. There was a desk with a mirror on the wall (although would recommend bringing your own makeup mirror). We did not wake up early enough for continental breakfast, so can’t comment. Staff was friendly. They have Wifi but not the best. Room was pretty musty. If you are sensitive to mold, would not recommend staying in the room we were in. Not sure about the other rooms, this was our first stay.

My wife and I have stayed here often during the 4 years our son was going to the university. Our latest stay was commencement weekend, 2022, and we were joined by a couple of family friends. Over the years I have enjoyed staying at this hotel, and other Hampton Inn facilities when we travel. The rooms are spacious and clean. There is always coffee in the lobby. I always take the pens because I like how they write. The warm breakfast was great. I like the place and will stay there again, but somebody should do something about the following: 1. During our stay over Commencement 2022 weekend our rooms got incredibly hot. Adjusting the temperature did not seem to help. The thermostat seemed to kick in on its own, reaching 82 degrees at some point during the night. Have you tried to sleep at 82 degrees? Now I have, and would not recommend it. 2. The coffee station ran out of cups, and, incredibly, coffee (on our third morning, at breakfast time). There were times during the day when what was available was just cold coffee. If you are going to provide coffee (and you should) make it hot and available consistently. 3. One of the two elevators was out of service, with a sign that it was being upgraded. From reading the comments here, it has been unavailable for a while. Having taken that much time, I will be disappointed if it is not a time machine when it is available for use again. 4. Our room had a telephone and radio/clock taking up the rather limited space near the beds. Why does any hotel still have these things in 2022? I was amused that the clock showed the wrong time - so it is not even useful for that purpose. My wife is tired of hearing me complain about the oddness of giving old-timey gadgets to people who have checked in using their phones. If this hotel and other hotels insist on taking up limited space with telephones and radios, I will insist that they include beepers and 8-track cassette decks to go along with them. As I said, I like the place and will stay there again. I will be interested to see how different things look.

Don’t let the pictures online fool you! My stay here did not live up to expectations or my past stays at other Staybridge hotels (or other IHG hotels in other cities around the world, for that matter). However, my stay was not all negative, so let me focus on the positives first. Let me note that while I stayed here for one night while in the process of moving to a new city, I did not have the breakfast here, nor did I use the hotel’s amenities, so this review will skip those parts of the stay. The hotel’s location is very convenient, located just off I-94 which provides easy access to DTW as needed. It is also located to a lot of nearby restaurants and stores, although a bit of a drive from the University of Michigan if you are here for the university. The lobby provides a cheery, refreshing welcome upon entering, and the front desk staff were friendly and attentive. The rooms are also pretty spacious, no surprise given this is a hotel composed of suites. The bed is also very comfortable and I received a good night sleep. But that’s pretty much where it all ends positivity wise… Despite the room being spacious, it seems as if housekeeping does not do their job as the room was very dirty upon entering. There were also stains on the walls and there were even blood stains in certain areas of the washroom. Absolutely disgusting, and especially unacceptable especially during pandemic times! The shower was also below average and water pressure was quite weak. If I had to describe what the shower experience was like at this hotel, it was almost as if the water was trickling. Seriously. It seems as if there are a numerous amount of hotels in close proximity to this one. I would most certainly look at those other options, because other people are pointing out the same flaws as me online. 2 stars seems just right for me given that there were some positives about my stay here.

I had 3 guests with me checking into 4 rooms for 2 nights. Check in was very good. Very accommodating. Everything was good except for 1 breakfast. Specifically paid more for this hotel due to the hot breakfast, not grab and go like a lot of other Choice hotels have moved to. Sunday morning breakfast was great. Well stocked and good, hot food, with good choices. Monday morning was complete opposite. The 3 hot entrées were empty and not being refilled. I saw at least 12 guests walk out of breakfast with nothing to eat. I made do with cold cereal and milk. Not a good way to start an 8 hour car ride from Michigan to Pennsylvania.

We had such negative, disappointing experience at this hotel, from our check-in to check-out. As we had power outage, we decided to stay at this hotel. On Internet it said $155 for the room with two queen size beds. My husband called and made a reservation. Upon arrival we were told that there’s no room so we had to wait for a while. The front desk staff called my husband loud (she said “Smith!!”, not “Mr. Smith”) and we were offered a room with only a dim desk light working. The lights in the bathroom and bedsides didn’t work. Later, they explained that the electric company put a limit on their electricity use. We were told to use “the flashlight on your phone” to take shower. The room was cold no matter we set the temperature higher and not so clean (tired). At check out, nobody was present at the front desk. I waited for 10 minutes and a staff came out reluctantly. She charged us $240. I asked her why and she said “because we didn’t have full electricity”. We are very disappointed because this hotel basically took advantage of those of us who needed a warm, lit place to stay during a power outage by charging $100 more that their usual price. The quality of the service and their hygiene standard were disappointing. My husband called Hilton customer service afterwards, but they were not nice nor understanding at all, transferred the call multiple times over 30-40 minutes. We have been a Hilton honors member but we will switch to Marriot. One last note: when we were waiting to check in, a homeless person with lots of paper bags came in casually, grabbed a paper cup in the breakfast room across the front desk, attempted to get some coffee from the dispenser. He put his cup back when he realized that there’s no coffee left. There were two staff at the front desk and one cleaning staff close to him but they really didn’t care, it appeared that this person was a frequent visitor.

We have stayed at other hotels when visiting our student and this is one of the best. Great location, great rooms. We were only there for a night but it did not disappoint. We walked to amazing restaurants and shopping. The curtains are actually blackout and the bed is so comfortable you will want to know what mattress it is. When you walk up the view over Ann Arbor is great.

The location is located in the city center and the university campus. The hotel is clean and comfortable, with advanced facilities, user-friendly design, and good service attitude. The son is very praised, saying that it is on the same level as a five-star hotel, and the breakfast is good!
