Horus Paradise Luxury Resort - All Inclusive

Side|1.92km from Side
This is absolutely not a 5* hotel currently, but with some pretty basic changes could be. We stayed at a 5* A.I. hotel in Belek last year and felt we knew what to expect, sadly this was a proper let down from the start. On arrival at 2am there was apparently a problem with our family room and we were put into two basic rooms in an adjoining hotel. It seems this is pretty common and several others were in the same position as proven at 2pm the following day when many families were at reception enquiring about their new rooms. I'd say it's a case of over booking and wasn't a good start. Once moved the new room was better but still felt like it was being run on a budget. No extras (internet €15 p/p), not clean, needed a refurbishment and a general lack of attention to detail eg note pad with someone else's writing on it, leaking toilet, aerial and bracket but no TV. Weird. Also no kettle, coffee, pop, crisps (simple extras that make it appear 5* and luxury). Little bottles of shampoo and soap but shower gel dispenser stayed empty throughout. Food was very samey-no themed nights eg Indian or Mexican, and although there were always good salads, a plain pasta, and then various meat and fish dishes, the labelling was unacceptable. Over 50% weren't labelled at all, or it'd say something basic like ”pastry” not what was in the pastry. As a vegetarian this made it tricky. Meals were always stressful as there weren't enough tables so people were stood with food waiting and it was a long walk away from the buffet meaning people were irritated, kids would drop food, oh and non was air-conditioned so it was boiling. Drink choices were limited, fresh fruit juice was €2 extra, milkshakes around €6+, other drinks esp for the children were highly syrupy and not great. Thankfully you could help yourself to little sealed cups of water pretty much everywhere. Convenient but not so eco. We went to the Italian a la carte and it was so shambolic we walked out, as did another family. For example we'd pre booked, said 2 were vegetarian, this seemed not to have been passed on then we were presented with 100% plain boiled pasta with a sachet of ketchup and mayonnaise on the side. The pool and slides and beach were good - apart from there being no where near enough sunbeds. We'd read beforehand to take your own inflatable which was definitely something I'd recommend too. They charge €2 to blow it up or we did it ourselves. It's well located, on a main road so we caught the bus for 10m to Side to see the ruins and easily caught the bus back. The highlight of the holiday. Entertainment was mixed... one night a dance show, one night bizarre couples challenges on stage including wrapping their partner in toilet roll. I know it sounds like I have no sense of humour but seriously at a 5*?? Hardly anyone stayed to watch which should have spoken volumes. There was a foam party in one pool, and rave music from 10am-12am (yes, morning til midnight) which
