If you are looking for a traditional Japanese resort experience in an area laden with history and lore, this is the place to book: rooms with tatami beds and sliding partitions, private and public hot springs, relax rooms, lounges and an inner landscaped garden dotted with fish ponds and interesting vegetation. Plus, of course, today’s necessities like Wi-Fi, climate control, sentient toilet seats and a full array of quality complimentary cosmetics. Based upon a casual observation, the place seems to target primarily couples looking for rest and relaxation, but worked just as well for our family of four, which includes two teenagers. As everywhere else we went, the staff was always very attentive and ready to assist however possible. LOCATION: offering both privacy and convenience, the hotel is located along an unassuming country road, a ten minute walk from the main thoroughfare connecting Nikko with Lake Chōzenji and served by local buses, with a stop just 100 meters down the road. Buses generally run two or three times an hour, but without a regular pattern, so plan accordingly (the front desk, of course, has all the schedules and route information handy). The hotel is also within walking distance of the shrine complex that is Nikko’s main attraction. ROOM: we spent two nights in an Aqua Deluxe Suite, which accommodates four guests in two separate partitioned areas, one with Western beds and the other with tatami beds set up every night. The room also features a sitting room and separate toilet, sink and shower areas. We had to be a little creative in storing our suitcases (pack lightly when travelling around Japan!) but the room actually offered more storage space than initially observed. The key feature of the room is an outdoor hot bath tub overlooking a private man-made pond closed off by a wall, offering complete privacy. After a day of hikes, it was a pleasure to soak in the tub surrounded by nothing but the sound of cascading water and chirping insects. AMENITIES: breakfast and dinner were included in the room rate, and I recommend taking full advantage of them. All the meals, with a set rotating menu, offered a great variety of what we took as local fish, meat and vegetable dishes, all prepared with quality ingredients and artfully served in private rooms. And don’t be deceived by the small portions: you will end up eating a lot! All meals are served at fixed hours, requiring advance reservations. The hot springs offer both indoors and outdoor basins: in a place like this, just wear the hotel-provided yukata and slippers and embrace the Japanese way of relaxation.

Just a walk-in guest to try the Japanese restaurant in The Ritz-Carlton Nikko. Quite surprised by the friendliest service provided from staff. The environment and atmosphere is also great. A bit regret of not choosing this hotel in my trip. I would choose this hotel when I visit Nikko next time.

Currently staying here for 2 nights and this is night 1. Location is nice and scenic. The room and view is pretty HOWEVER our room smells and smells bad. Not sure if they gave us a smoking room (which I did not request) or the room just smells. Asked a staff person and either they didn't understand me or it really is a smoking room. Staff tries with english but ive not had much luck. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash is little packets in the lobby which i had to search and find. I went down to the desk to ask about shampoo and the older gentleman ducked into the room behind the desk and didnt come back out because he spoke no english. Also, wifi is pretty much nonexistent in room 1503. The buffet option is kind of eh, not really as many options as the pics make it look like and it's not very warm but it was edible i guess but over priced. I wouldn't stay here again if I'm in the area and would suggest trying a different hotel in the area. Then starting at 8am either they are renovating a room near us or there's no sound proofing between rooms judging by the banging noises. It would be a nice romantic place to spend a night maybe? If there are unsmelly rooms. Almost every other person staying here we've seen has been elderly (60-70+) and that should kinda tell you the type of person this caters to. I've stayed in worse.

You can cook indoors, barbecue outdoors, artificial hot springs, and kitchen tools are all available. There is a small supermarket 200 meters away. If you have a car, there is a large supermarket one kilometer away. It is recommended for those who want to rent a car or travel by car.

The building itself is old, but the service was good. Free service for beer and cherry blossoms in the lounge. It's a buffet at night and in the morning, but I was surprised at the abundant number of items. All-you-can-drink soft drinks during buffet. It looks beautiful because it replenishes food before it disappears one after another. The image of the Viking has changed. It was good to have a bath and an open-air bath. The free massage chair was also very good.
An all-inclusive hot spring resort hotel where you can experience the misty forest.

Currently, the name ”TAOYA Nikko Kirifuri” has changed. Apparently, there is information that seems to have been renewed. I'm not sure if it's the Oedo Onsen Group, but this is my first visit. All-inclusive 2 41800 yen for name. Drinks such as beer and wine can be freely served in the lounge, after the hot water, and at the Viking place. The front desk is on the 3rd floor. We had a twin bed on the 2nd floor, but the room was large and the facilities were perfect. The hotel itself is in the woods, so the scenery around is all green. The bath was on the top floor, with an indoor bath and an open-air bath, and the open-air bath was a great view overlooking the distant mountains 々 and the cityscape of Nikko. Would definitely recommend. Dinner is a buffet, and you can enjoy various tastes and satisfy your needs. Especially after meal ice cream is Haagen-Dazs, so please come! Is it profitable for me who is not strong in alcohol? I may not get it, but I think the person who can drink is the best hotel.

Arrived at Hotel and parked the rental car in the car park for free. Staff were very efficient and check in was very quick. Japan is still very Covid conscious and masks are worn everywhere. We were advised that there were were facilities for making Tea/ coffee in the room and that we should take any provisions required (for free) from the table arranged in the lobby i.e. tea / coffee / toothbrushes..etc. Room was lovely and spacious with a comfortable bed and lovely en-suite- lovely deep bath (shower fixings would be low for taller individuals). They had an evening bar and Onsen (natural hot water spring separate for males and females). They had a restaurant that provided an extensive buffet menu for breakfast - very tasty, and they had a select menu for the evenings and what we tried was very tasty also. The staff in the Hotel and restaurant were most friendly and encouraged me when I attempted some Japanese words. A very lovely start to our holiday in Japan - Thank you for your hospitality, we would happily stay here again

I used it on a family trip. I rent a car in front of Kinugawa Onsen station, climb the mountain road for about 1 hour and 20 minutes, and I was shaken by the transfer bus of the inn from there to the parking lot of the woman husband, and climbed for about 30 minutes and finally arrived . The room is a log house Japanese room. It is a good feeling with large, clean and warm! Later I heard that it is made of large trees made in Canada. Heating was only one large oil stove, but the air was circulated by the sealing fan of the ceiling and it was warm enough. There was no TV that seemed to be in the previous information. There is no refrigerator. The bath went to each 々 inner bath early to wash the body first, and I and my son went to the open-air bath at 21 o'clock after eating, and my wife and mother-in-law were dedicated to women. Because it was night, I couldn't enjoy the surrounding scenery very much, but the open-air bath in the cold air in the first winter was pleasant. The meal is also a log house type rest house. Inabe main, deer tatting, cherry blossom salt baking and mountain dishes. I had a cherry blossom bone sake with 2 x 4 in the plan, so I enjoyed it slowly. At night, when I went out and looked up at the sky, the star of the sky was full! It was the first time to see the starry sky so far, so I was very impressed. 2 starry sky appreciation near 0 o'clock. At that time I was able to see the stars!! In a moment, I felt like ”is it now?” 3 times. The next morning, I had a delicious breakfast and sent me to the woman's husband's parking lot by the first transfer bus at 9 o'clock. On the return flight, the driver guided and there was a service to stop the car at the scenic spot on the way. In other words, all the water in the inn was spring water, so the water from the faucet of the room was delicious without miscellaneous taste. The water was also released from all the water supply in the building to prevent the water pipe from frozen and bursting at this time. The sale of sake in the building was only Asahi super dry by vending machine. If you want to drink in the room, please buy it first.

Took the hotel pick up shuttle at the Nikko JR station, it took about 5 minutes to reach the hotel. There are quite a number of shops and restaurants nearby the hotel. The famous Toshogu which is the tomb of Tokugawa Ieyasuis located within 20 minutes with walk, and the Shinkyo bridge is even closer. The hotel is hiding up hill at the end of the main onsen street with not many rooms. Check in was smooth, we were offered a hot tea while waiting in the lobby lounge. We booked a rather big room located at the end of the hallway, with separate living room and bedroom. The bedroom has the western style beds and the massage lounger. The public bath is located further down the way through an outdoor walkway. The public bath and outdoor bath is relatively small but there are not many people using it. We are having the breakfast and dinner in the restaurant. The serving of yuba is interesting, you are given the food material and the stove to cook for yourself and served hot. We have the luxury dinner on the second night so we were seated inside a private room overlooking the garden. The food is sumptuous and well worth the money. There are quite many foreign customers patronizing the hotel during the period.
