Romantik Hotel Säntis ★★★★

"Great place to stay in the heart of Appenzell. The rooms were quite comfortable and the beds were good. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel and it was excellent. I particularly enjoyed opening the windows of our room and listening to the church bells ringing in unison all across the valley to mark some special occasion (I think it was the end of the week-end). I wish I had more time to spend walking around the countryside."

"The lady at the reception was very friendly. The rooms were excellent, as was the hotel's location. The only disappointment was the breakfast buffet. It started with the lack of greeting from the staff; you could tell them they didn't feel like working. The buffet was almost empty, and unfortunately, there were no fresh eggs. A shame considering the high price of breakfast."

Hotel Hecht Appenzell ★★★

"While I was staying here, I unfortunately became I’ll and had to go to hospital, leaving the rest of my group to go on without me. I felt very frightened and alone, however when I arrived back from the hospital, the staff put me to bed and then crept in every few hours to check on me. As soon as they saw I was awake, they brought me hearty soup to feed me. Honestly, they couldn’t have been kinder, they looked after me for a full week, till I was able to go on with my trip! It is weird when you’re sick overseas, not hearing your own language, not feeling able to explain just what is wrong. But with the staff at this hotel, there was no need to worry, they just looked after me as though I was a relative. I can’t recommend them more highly!"

"We enjoyed our stay here. We contacted the hotel and they sent us a google map coordinate so we drove right to the parking lot behind the hotel. Room was clean and ready for us even though we arrived early. Breakfast was great and they will cook you eggs if you inquire. Wife enjoyed the cappuccino each morning. We also received the Appenzellar card the saved us money on train and cable cars."
