Weinegg Wellviva Resort

Sadly, our stay at Weinegg was a huge let down. I emailed before booking to find out whether their pool was excessively heated or appropriate for lap swimming. I was assured by email: "our 60m SuitePool...temperature lies around 28°C and it's the perfect place to swim laps in". 28 degrees C (=82.4 degrees F) is a perfectly reasonable temperature to swim laps so I booked 2 nights. I was sorely disappointed when I took the temperature of the water on the morning of my swim ( I have learned that pool thermometers are not made available to hotel guests at hotels so I bring my own to know for sure). It turned out that the water was a bath like 88 degrees F (=31 degrees C). For someone who swims laps for an hour, it's not pleasant. It is exasperating to be misinformed as I had doublechecked with the front desk reception upon checking in the evening before. I endured an hour of swimming but it wasn't enjoyable and I would never have considered staying and paying a premium for a hotel with a pool that's so warm. I cannot understand why when they have another indoor/outdoor pool (I checked ...over 90 degrees F) why they insist on keeping both pools so hot?! After showering and breakfast, I let reception know that I wasn't happy about the temperature of the water. The manager wasn't in and reception could not offer any guarantee that the water would be cooler the next morning. I packed my bags and left and never heard from the manager despite being promised a call. The rooms are clean and well designed. The pool is located proximal to the rooms so not ideal. You feel like you're swimming in a courtyard pool. You look right into guest rooms as you swim the 60 meter length. Not only that, apparently I woke up a couple 3 floors above me when they heard me swimming???? and proceeded to reprimand (harass)!! me in German for swimming at 6am. (Hotel told me it was fine to swim early: "swimming in the morning is no issue at all, we only ask our guests to be a little quieter during the early/late hours as a form of respect to the others". Perhaps this couple sleeps with the terrace door open in winter??? I was not making any noise. Breakfast eggs were disappointing. Fresh squeezed blood red orange juice was welcomed. Indoor spa area is a bit tacky.

The hotel is offering a wide range of activities and has plenty of space. The food is delicious and full of choice. But most remarkable is the friendliness of the service, this is exceptional. So the hotel deserves its 5 stars. A small hint don‘t book ground floor rooms as the real view comes on higher floors. The rooms in the new building are large, very well equipped - a top level setting.

After 2009 I've decided to return to Weinegg for xmas and it has been the perfect holiday.. Much better than expected... Everything simply perfect.. Updated location and facilities... Staff... Cuisine, food quality and selection... Modern Spa and swimming pools... A real 5 star hotel family run instead with customer care instead of an impersonal brand0 hotel Apart from the accurate cure of every detail what I mostly appreciated is the the peaceful atmosphere of the the environment and the special kindness of all. This is the place to stay when you need to slow down and rest in the countryside. Looking forward to returning soon

the resort is beautiful, comfortable and close to Bolzano in a quiet village surrounded by apple orchards and wineyards. We had a lovely stay, excellent food and wine list, service, comfortable, large sunny room, pools and spa to die for. The staff is one of the best assets of the hotel, they made us feel welcome, they are attentive without being overbearing. Also the clientele is nice, quiet, well dressed. Bolzano is a pretty city with museums and good shopping. The hotel shuttle bus can take you there so no need to come with the car, although the area is beautiful to explore. Highly recommended.

Fantastic stay, the hotel has excellent facilities and first class service. Having stayed at top class hotels all over the world the Weinegg is definitely one of the best. Personal service throughout, the owners and Management speak to you every evening to ensure everything is to your satisfaction. Highly recommended

Once again we stayed at the Weinegg, with a group of 10 for a week. This Resort offer a world class service. The truly competent staff is very friendly and always available if you need something. The facility is first class and the restaurant is outstanding. Same apllies to the wellness area, they even have a separate wellness area for families I have travelled the world on business for 40 years and visited some of the great hotel names, Weinegg is definitely on par with them. It is a family owned and managed resort.. The owners are always around. Management does not hide in closed offices and is always visible. The quality of the staff is amazing. The (Gault Millau ) arena restaurant offers a great buffet style healthy breakfast and an outstanding daily lunch / afternoon buffet. Dinner is fantastic with a creative daily changing 6 course menu in addition to a great selection of courses from the weekly standard menu. They have also an extensive wine list with great local wines and a good choice of European wines. The only thing which needs improvement is the charging station for electric cars in the garage. During our stay a "friendly" Italian customer blocked the station for 3 full days!
