We have been loyal guests of the Arabella Hotel & Spa for years, dating back to the African Pride era, through Tsogo Sun, and now Southern Sun. It has been our go-to sanctuary for every major milestone—birthdays, anniversaries, and Christmas. However, our recent stay for our 15th Wedding Anniversary was a series of disappointments that have left us questioning our loyalty. Despite emailing in advance to highlight the occasion and make specific requests, the execution was poor: • The Room Setup: Shortly after arrival, I received a courtesy call asking if our twin beds should be converted to a king. For a couple celebrating a wedding anniversary, one would assume this is a given, not a question that needs to be asked upon arrival. • The Anniversary Surprise: I had requested a plate of sweet treats with "Happy 15th Anniversary." What we received was a plate that read "Happy 50th Anniversary." While it might seem like a simple typo to some, to us, it felt like a complete lack of attention to detail and a disregard for the information we provided. When you have such a long, fond history with a hotel, you expect the "gold standard" service they are known for. Unfortunately, this time, the ball wasn't just dropped; it was missed entirely. We are very disappointed loyal clients who expected much more for such a special occasion. Regards, Hugh Gordon
