Arbatax Park Resort - Borgo Cala Moresca by Falkensteiner

My colleague was travelling for a business trip and it was great

We had a wonderful overall stay at the resort and were very impressed by the beautiful surroundings, atmosphere, and quality of the experience. The staff were friendly, and most importantly, the food and drinks were exceptional. The seafood in particular was a real highlight, fresh, delicious, and very well prepared. We also loved the attention to detail and the beautiful finishing touches and presentation in the restaurants. The overall dining experience was definitely one of the strongest parts of our stay. There were, however, a couple of things that could be improved. Our arrival experience was unfortunately quite disappointing. We waited around 45 minutes just to be shown where to park, followed by another 20 minutes before our luggage was collected and we were taken to reception. Since we arrived late and were traveling with our 1-year-old baby, the long wait was particularly difficult, and we almost missed dinner. We also noticed that some guests who arrived after us were checked in before we were. We also completely understand and appreciate the eco-friendly concept of the resort, but the restaurants were simply too hot during dinner. Improving the ventilation or adding air conditioning would make the dining experience considerably more comfortable. Thankfully, these were relatively minor issues compared with everything else we enjoyed. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would happily return. With a few improvements to the arrival/check-in process and restaurant ventilation, the experience could be truly exceptional.

Absolutely fantastic. Rooms were great, (we had adjoining rooms) in what can only be described as a stunning traditional sardinina village, and kept clean daily.Air con works wonders! A few steps up and down, so you might need to be fit! Food was superb, (and we are not easly pleased being Italians), full of flavour and a good variety. Coast line amazing, with plenty of beaches were we always found space for a family of four...water unbelivebly clear! Good interrnal service with the shuttle, albiet it does get busy in the evening, but its not a surprise in August! Enough to do for the litlle ones and the bigger ones as Arbatx village and Tortoli are within walking distance and /or 5 minutes by taxis...dont forget to book! Staff was fantastic, from the girls in reception, which were very helpful with transfers, to the bar staff (thank you Giovanni from Sicily) to the staff on the beach (thank you Giuseppe from Naples with your help on the paddle board) to the waiting staff (Rocco was always frindly and works far too hard) to, last but not least, thank you to Gianvito with his brilliant humour and his"ranger skills". In short...what are you waiting for? go and book...we will!!

Our 7 day stay at Arbatax Borgo was great. The whole resort has a touch of being dated and has probably seen better days in the past. Looking past that the resort has alot of soul and offers much for a family vacation. The resort offer an easy jump on jump off transfer wich makes it easy to enjoy different pools, beeches scenery. For kids the pool outside Tellis was best but we also enjoyed the Borgo pool and the freshness of a swim from the cliffs there. Also the Bounavista park was great and our daughter loved to visit the animals especially the goats. We whent half board and breakfast was very good, extra star to barista Katy making excellent cappuccino! Dinner was mediocre but ok. Also whant to give Giovanni (Ranger, couch, and everything) a star for being very friendly and welcoming. Room was according to description, well kept and A/C with good standard. Easy fixes: shape up the public bathrooms, proper looks on the doors and freshness. Run more transfer buses in the area, you could see people getting upset for waiting to long. All in all I would recommend this place.

Beautiful location with a nature reserve. Unfortunately, Falkensteiner have turned the Resort into a mass tourism nightmare. The Borgo Cala Moresca Hotel is like a little village which is quite quaint. However, be prepared to do a lot of walking up and down stairs and cobbled streets. Not for the faint-hearted or pushchairs! Ok for a short stay but there are cheaper and far better options in the area than this resort.

Quick follow-up to my Day 2 review. a) Advertising vs. reality: Nothing in the listing mentions the steep hillside, treacherous paths, or that your room can be hundreds of steps up with no lift available. Omitting an important safety-relevant fact like this looks like misleading commercial practice to me — I am considering raising this with the Italian consumer authority as we feel we have been seriously scammed. b) The animal park is dangerous, not charming: The wild boar (cinghiali) enclosure has no secondary barrier — children can put their hands straight in. No buffer, no warning signage. This will end with a bitten child if nobody fixes it. d) No way to dry clothes: Rooms have no drying rack, no line, nothing — the result is guests hanging wet laundry out of windows and doors all over the property. It looks like a campsite, not a hotel. e) Food: we’re still surviving on sliced pizza because it’s the only thing we trust. The seafood does not look fresh — clams and mussels are genuinely dangerous when they’re not, not just unpleasant. Many of the sauces, creams, and pasta dishes look reheated from previous days rather than freshly made. This is Italy — guests expect good edible food, not school-cafeteria standards. Even a staff member privately told me that food there is “notoriously bad”. In a nutshell, given three days of undelivered basic service, I no longer consider the prepayment defensible on the resort’s side, and I am pursuing now an unconditional refund directly with management, which is a must. More to come if not solved before.

We arrived at Borgo Cala Moresca full of expectations for a relaxing holiday in Arbatax — instead we’ve encountered one of the worst hospitality experiences of our lives (I have personally 30+ year of experience in worldwide hotels) and we’re only just getting started. Check-in chaos: Reception seems to be staffed entirely by inexperienced, newly hired staff with no real training and close-to-absent senior supervising them. It took forever, no one seemed to know what they were doing, and the disorganization set the tone for everything that followed. Check-in times were also totally not respected. Cleanliness: common areas are simply dirty and run-down (litters and garbage all around the property). For the price point, this is unacceptable. Staff attitude: Rather than the warmth you’d expect from Sardinian hospitality, we’ve been met with insolence and a level of disrespect toward guests that is honestly shocking. In the evening, waiters at the restaurant could not seem to care less whether we were there (one joung lady was leaning on the wall like she could not be bothered). Food: The buffet is a joke — poor quality, poor selection, nothing that reflects the price being charged. A lot a precooked, industrial items. Plenty of plastic in what is a supposed to be a “Eco” resort. “Customer service”: Pretentious in manner, but completely ineffective in practice. Complaints are met with attitude, not solutions. Value for money: Grossly overpriced for what is on offer. This is not a 4-star (or however it’s marketed) experience by any stretch. Falkensteiner, where are you? We would leave immediately if we could, but having prepaid the full stay, we have no confidence we’d be reimbursed for an early departure — so we’re effectively stuck in this depressing situation. We’re like in prison. I will be updating this review daily throughout our stay so future travelers have a real-time, honest account of what to expect. Save your money and book elsewhere.i will add pictures as I didn’t have time to take them today (while we spent hours wandering around as stranded tourist waiting for our room key). Day 1 of what I fear will be a very long vacation.
