Our stay at the Barceló Nura Hotel in Menorca was a lovely escape, but it didn’t quite dazzle us like the 5-star rating promised. Fresh off an incredible 5-star stay the previous week in Cala en Bosch, we were really looking forward to staying at Barcelo nura and comparing the two hotels for their value and quality. Unfortunately we found Barceló Nura to be a solid 4-star experience—great for chilling out but missing that extra sparkle to make it unforgettable. Here’s the breakdown What We Loved Gorgeous Grounds: The hotel’s gardens are vibrant, and so inviting you’ll want to linger all day. It’s a perfect backdrop for a relaxing getaway. Bar Staff: The bar team were always friendly, attentive, and ready with a smile, very good english speakers. A special shoutout to Fiona, who was a true 5-star superstar. Peaceful Haven: If you’re craving quiet, this hotel delivers. The calm, serene vibe is ideal for unwinding, making it a great pick for a low-key retreat. What Fell Short Isolated Location: We found barely anything within easy walking distance, restaurants close to the hotel were barely open but generally a very good standard. We knew from the reviews the hotel was isolated but didn't really appreciate how much it would bother us. We did however drive to binibeca, Mahón and son bou all within 30 mins. Not True 5-Star Vibes: Having been spoiled by a 5-star hotel the week before (with its plush rooms, incredible breakfast experience with impeccable service) Barceló Nura felt more like a 4-star with 5 star prices Pricey and Underwhelming Eats: As bed-and-breakfast guests, we were floored by the food and drink prices. Cocktails and sangria were lackluster and overpriced €25 for 1L of cava sangria, cocktails were priced around $13.50 and average at best. Drinks to the room add upto €12 for the privilege. The pool bar menu was limited but tasty although really over priced at €19 for a ham and cheese toasty with fries €24 for a burger and fries (that, admittedly, was a big meal). Extra charges for bali beds €35 for 4 hours (bottle of cava included) Breakfast Blues: The breakfast was overall decent for a 4-star but far from 5-star. Options were okay but the cooked breakfast was usually lukewarm or even cold. No Adult-Only Zone: While the kids around were well-behaved, the lack of an adult-only area was a miss. The spa pool was cold and not very inviting, this was really disappointing. Final Thoughts Barceló Nura is a great choice for a serene getaway, with beautiful grounds But don’t expect full-on 5-star glamour—it’s a polished 4-star that falls short.
