AluaSoul Zakynthos Stylish Adults-Only Hotel with Room for Improvement Set just outside the lively town of Zante, this modern adults-only hotel boasts a peaceful location and stunning coastal views, visually it’s impressive. Check-in was fairly smooth, though our arrival just after 9:00 PM came with some immediate disappointments. We were informed the restaurant had already closed, and instead handed a brown bag containing a stale sandwich, a slice of cake, and an apple, absolutely not the warmest of welcomes. A welcome drink would’ve gone a long way too. Things didn’t improve when we learned access to the beautiful infinity pools came at an extra cost of €55 per person, per day. This “upgrade” included use of premium pool areas, exclusive restaurant seating, different colored towels, and one additional à la carte meal, not what you’d expect to be a paid extra at an all-inclusive hotel and something that was not clear on the TUI website when booking. On a positive note, our luggage was quickly delivered to our room, and the receptionist was friendly and helpful. The room itself was modern, bright, and had a comfortable bed. Amenities included a hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. However, the bathroom, though stylish, could have been cleaner. Limescale and dirty grout were noticeable, and the water pressure was inconsistent, with occasional issues getting hot water. The skirting boards looked like they needed a good clean also. Housekeeping was also very inconsistent. One day our room wasn’t serviced at all, and on another, we found socks left in the bed after it was made. That said, clean towels were always provided regularly. Despite mixed reviews about the food, we found the main buffet restaurant perfectly acceptable. We didn’t dine at the à la carte. Breakfast included a variety of eggs, sausages, bacon, fruits (fresh and tinned), cheese, bread, and yogurt. Lunch and dinner featured a good selection of salads, pizzas, pastas, and hot dishes. While food could have been hotter, it was still enjoyable. The dessert section was limited and mostly fruit, ice cream, and a few cakes, not the generous spread you might expect. Interaction with restaurant staff was minimal, and all drinks, including water, were self-service. Adding themed nights or show cooking would really enhance the dining experience, plus table service for drinks. The pool areas were clean and relaxing. Contrary to some reviews, we had no trouble finding sunbeds, but I think it would be a struggle if the hotel were at full capacity. Balinese beds were available for €60 per day, including a bottle of fizz. However, the lack of waiter service at the pool was a letdown. Pool towels were changed at reception daily. The hotel bars offered a decent variety of cocktails, local spirits, and soft drinks on the all-inclusive package. Some cocktails were chargeable but you could clearly see this on the menu. Service from Elvis, Irina, and Nikos stood out, especially Elvis,
