Breakfast was good, especially the fish and chips

The usual Premier Inn stay - rooms very clean and comfortable. We only had a one night stay on Friday 23rd May - we ate in the restaurant attached and the food was the usual Whitbread/Premier Inn fare. However, it appeared to be very understaffed - Gaynor I think the waitress name was was excellent under extreme pressure.

Sadly the hotel is feeling very shabby and run-down. The rooms are incredibly hot and stuffy - we were in the annexe in a family room. We had 2 fans and that made it bearable but not comfortable. Apparently they are getting an upgrade in the autumn to include air conditioning - I wouldn't visit until that is completed. We won't stay here again.

We spent three nights at the Premier Inn Barnstaple. Whilst the room was very good and comfortable and the Premier Inn staff were very helpful, the evening meals at the adjacent Barum Gate Table Table restaurant was a mixed experience. The first evening we were shown to our table and the drinks we requested were promptly served. The waitress then said she would be back in a minute or two to take our food order. We had to wait 30 minutes before she returned to the table and then having given our food order we had to wait a further 29 minutes for the food to be served at the table. On our second night we again had to wait some considerable time for the food to be delivered to the table and unfortunately our meals were cold, eating cold chips is not very pleasant. On the third night we were served by a different person who was extremely pleasant and helpful. Our food order was taken promptly and we did not have to wait too long for our food to be served. Our meals on the third night were very good and the food was hot and enjoyable. The restaurant appeared to look very tired, some of the chairs were loose and moving when siting in them. On a positive note the breakfasts were very good and the food was hot and tasty.

Our family has just returned from Barnstaple. The Travelodge was perfect-well situated, spotlessly clean, had great parking and food outlets nearby too. The rooms (at the back) were very quiet indeed. There was a slight issue with the key cards, in that they repeatedly ‘stopped working’, and we had to request that they be re-set. (The machine is new, apparently). The young man in the desk was apologetic each time, and soon reloaded them. All staff were friendly and helpful, and we will certainly stay here again. Thank you Travelodge!

Visited with my elderly parents who have mobility issues. Had advised the hotel of this and they were given a room near the lift and the disabled parking was right outside. Rooms clean with everything we needed. Pub/restaurant right next door. We booked the meal deal which was excellent value and we all enjoyed our food. Staff were all very friendly. Good location. We would definitely stay again.

Very tired hotel. Room and bathroom were old, dirty and tired. Beds were uncomfortable. Boiling hot but did provide a manual fan. Would never stay here again. Bar and restaurant could not cope. Food was sub standard. Under staffed. Parking was busy. Some staff need some additional training! Not premier inn standards at all and I travel a lot.

The beds were decent. However, if you go to the restaurant don't have the salt and pepper squid it was way to salty.also if you have a curry expect the poppadoms to be limp. Never had such bad squid ever. If you are thinking about having food there don't

The reception staff were very welcoming and on the ball. We had a very enjoyable meal in the restaurant and were particularly impressed with the service from Jade who was excellent. She gave us ample time to make our choices and get us well served throughout the meal in an undersated manner. She should go far in life!
