Used as a base for a birthday trip last year. We visited castles and points of interest in the local area ( Alnwick etc ) but stayed at the hotel for rest / sleep and for breakfast & dinner. The breakfast & dinner were available at the neighbouring pub and the breakfasts are excellent. Plenty of choice and the service is first class. Evening meal was good, and despite the dining area getting very very busy, the service was still good ( I recommend an earlier slot for dinner to avoid a busy service). The room was basic, but clean and the bed very comfortable. Large and spacious car-park next to a Lake too. Would certainly recommend.

I’ve been a regular at this hotel for many years and I always look forward to staying here when I’m working in the area. The hotel is in a lovely location with a fabulous walk around the lake, and the mining museum nearby. The staff are very pleasant and incredibly helpful. Lovely clean rooms, plenty of parking. There isn’t anything negative to say. Food at the adjoining pub is always delicious and again the staff are very friendly and courteous.

A great base for exploring the area. We went as far as Alnwick and environs, more than once, and explored the coast from Newbiggin-on-Sea northwards. We also had a wander west as far as Elsdon. Morpeth was also on our list, even locally the country park right outside the hotel was great. The Cookhouse+Pub provides good food. All the staff in both establishments were great, friendly and efficient. Our only problem was the abysmal Wi-Fi, almost unusable. While there is an option to upgrade to "Ultimate" Wi-Fi the standard fre was so poor I didn't feel like chancing the paid version. A pity as it provided the only downside to the trip (seven nights).

Lovely hotel. Clean. Perfect as a base for visiting family who live close by Will be returning. Staff were helpful friendly and greeted us with a smile. Room had a nice view of the lake and country park. Room was quiet at night as facing away from road

Overall a good hotel, staff are very pleasant and helpful especially the breakfast food staff who went out of their way to ensure those in our party with food allergies were fully catered for. Our room had a broken hair dryer which we reported but there were no spare ones available. The access road into the hotel is very pot holed and could do with being re-tarmaced.

Spent two nights and we were disappointed with both the hotel and restaurant. The hotel, although situated in a rural location outside of Ashington, suffers from external noise. This being car or vans beeping their horns and people shouting at 4 - 5am. Not sure if these were delivery's drivers wanting attention or just ******. The restaurant is, as you would expect food wise, average. However, at our breakfast table, there was food left on the floor from the previous nights menu and the juice glasses were not clean with lipstick marks. For us it was summed up when we booked a table for breakfast and on arrival, asked staff for one with hard back seating, not a chair as I have to support my back fully due to ongoing medical issues. We were told we could not have one due to the volume of bookings that morning and were shown to a table at the back of the restaurant, just about as far away from the buffet as possible. This also compounded the issue as both my wife and I have clear mobility issues, resulting in us both leaving after one small plate as we simply could not manage to go back to the buffet. PS the restaurant was not full and at no time were we offered any help!

Loved the beautiful location! It was quiet, peaceful, and had great staff! Wouldn't recommend the breakfast though, it was a buffet but basic and the mushrooms for example were dried out etc. Also, surprisingly, the bathroom was really fancy, too! Otherwise, as far as a Premiere Inn goes, it's a really great place if you are looking to explore the surrounding areas - I found that most iconic spots to see in the area was an hour's drive away! Bonus tip: the bar is happy to refill your water bottles for free with their filtered aqua!

We really enjoyed our stay. The staff were helpful and friendly. The room was as we expected, we had everything that we needed. We paid extra for a room with a view and that's what we got. Our room over looked the lake which was such a lovely view. We will be back.
