The pungent smell of urine in the bathroom was an absolute shock, especially considering that even public restrooms in Japan rarely have any odor. For a long-standing brand hotel, operating since 1966, to have such a problem is truly baffling. After reporting it to the hotel, they merely sent a staff member to spray some deodorizing solution. They didn't even perform the most basic cleaning, like wiping down the toilet or floor. I was actually woken up by the stench in the middle of the night, prompting another complaint to Ctrip.
The air conditioning system might be quite old, as condensate water dripped directly onto the bed from the vent. Initially, I couldn't figure out the source of the dripping sound, only to later discover it was coming from the AC vent.
Furthermore, the front desk staff's attitude was quite cold and indifferent. It's truly difficult to imagine a hotel with so many loyal, long-time guests having such a lackadaisical approach to service.
On the plus side, the scenery is absolutely breathtaking. The small hot spring bath on the third floor offers stunning mountain views, and there are various other hot spring pools available, making it particularly ideal for family activities.
