Staying on the day of the fireworks festival was a poor value. For over 4,000 yen per night, I was given a room on a lower floor with no view of the fireworks. The set meals were replaced with a buffet, and the facilities and food felt like a typical hot springs inn, completely lacking the refined feel of the photos. We watched the fireworks from the hotel's rooftop. Reviews and maps suggest the hotel is close to the fireworks display, but the hotel is actually located at one end of the fireworks display, resulting in a narrow vertical view, rather than the wide horizontal view from the front. Besides the loud noise, there was nothing impressive about it. Furthermore, from the rooftop terrace, everyone sat in rows with their own chairs, so we just watched and took photos with our phones. Want to take a photo with the fireworks? Standing up would block the view from the back row, causing public outrage. For this budget, the Kikuya Arai Seaside Hotel was a casual stay. The facilities, service, and kaiseki cuisine were not on the same level. It felt like a waste of money...

This time I chose this seaside hotel because I wanted to watch the Atami Fireworks Festival. The hotel faces the location where the fireworks erupt. Although it is not directly in front of me, the distance is very close and it is very spectacular. A few days before check-in, I emailed the hotel to request a high-rise room, which cost an additional ¥2,200 per person. I was given a room on the 8th floor, the highest floor. From there, I could watch the fireworks from the room without having to go to the beach or rooftop to watch the fireworks. The dinner was kaiseki which was delicious and the breakfast buffet was also good. However, the room is old and the cleanliness is average. There are a few hairs and dust on the bedding, which needs to be improved. The hotel provides a shuttle bus to the station, with two buses in the morning at 9:30 and 10:00. If you want to take the bus, you need to arrive at the lobby 5-10 minutes in advance to wait for the bus.

But the biggest surprise was that the balcony of the room directly faced the fireworks, which was very shocking! I lived on the 6th floor, and later I found that it was really amazing to watch the fireworks in this hotel, because there are 9 rooms on the first floor, and 8 of them face the fireworks. If you live on a lower floor, you may have to go to the small park next to it to watch, but it is only a 3-minute walk away. I was worried about the traffic before coming here. In fact, go out of Atami Station and go to the bus stop No. 7 on the left, take I71, get off at marine spa atami station (the next stop of the water park), and walk 100 meters to get there.
