Phaedra Hotel

Wonderful small hotel just off the main streets of the Acropolis area. Comfortable beds, clean, convenient. There is some street noise which ends by late evening, but nothing too disruptive. Typical city sounds for a tourist centre. Room was cozy but plenty room for us, especially considering we were out most of the day. Wee balcony looked out to the Acropolis and there is a rooftop patio with great views! We had a nice breeze each evening which kept the room a pleasant temperature without requiring the a/c (which we often find noisy, although we didn't turn on this one). Close to many restaurants and easy walking to historic sites and interesting streets and alleys. We would definitely stay here again.

Lovely hotel in the heart of Plaka. Was a bit small and outdated but we still enjoyed our stay. The views were awesome from our balcony and the reception was nice and always available. Everything was so close to walk to and very safe area. Very clean too. Would recommend!

Hotel Phaedra is a basic hotel with an incredible location. It is located hotel in the heart of the popular Plaka area. LOCATION: It could not have been more central. We walked everywhere. It is a 4 - 5 minute walk to the Acropolis and Acropolis Museum. The beautiful 10th century Church of St Catherine is across the road, Hadrian’s Arch and the Temple of Olympian Zeus are just around the corner. It is located at one end of Adrianou Street, a lively, fun street full of restaurants and souvenir shops. Brettos Bar (which I highly recommend) is just 2 - 3 minutes away. ROOM: The best feature of our room was the small balcony that looked across to the Parthenon and Acropolis. The room itself was of average size and was simply furnished with tiled floors. It lacked charm but was clean and comfortable and did the job. It was perfectly adequate and was very good value for the price. We had a strange arrangement of having a separate but private bathroom with a key. This was OK but it was across the corridor and the key was a little sticky so not ideal. There was an additional basin in the room which was handy for cleaning teeth and getting a glass of water in the night. No problems at all with wifi. There is an elevator which is helpful if you have large suitcases. SERVICE: Email communication before we arrived was good. They replied quickly and they gave us good instructions for arrival. They allowed us to drop our bags early than the check-in time so that we could go and explore and come back when our room was ready. The desk is manned 24/7 but during our stay, service was patchy and was very dependent on who was manning the desk. FACILITIES: This is a good but basic hotel so if you want a range of hotel facilities, then this is not for you. The best part was the rooftop balcony which had a beautiful view across to the Acropolis and Parthenon. We took drinks up there a couple of evenings and we were the only ones there. Breakfast was offered but there were very short breakfast hours of 7 - 8am which did not suit us and we got breakfast elsewhere. There is a very small kiosk around the corner called Salt N Sugar where we usually grabbed a coffee and something sweet.

Stayed at a single room for three nights in March 2023 and it was fantastic. Location is unbeatable—it’s just 250 meters away from the Akropolis Metro Station. There are plenty of dining options and souvenir shops right down the street. Reception is open 24 hours with very professional staff. You need to leave your room keys at reception whenever you go out. Room is on the small side (10 square meters), but it was no-frills, clean and secure. And who wants to stay indoors anyway when you’re in Athens? The absolute showstopper here is their rooftop terrace with a breathtaking view of the Acropolis. Smoking is allowed at the rooftop terrace. They can also store your luggage for free if you wish to venture out of Athens. I left my luggage here for three nights when I went to Santorini. Overall, I had a perfect stay as a solo traveler, but I can imagine how the small space can be challenging for couples.
