Travelodge Ashton Under Lyne

The rooms were decent, but there was mold in the windows. The staff was friendly but lacked organization. When we arrived, there was no one at reception, which has a bad reputation. They took a while to check us in and informed us that we couldn’t check in until 2 p.m. despite our arrival just before 2 p.m. I explained that we had an early check-in request, and they apologized. We also wanted to extend our check-out time since we were out until 10 or 11 p.m. They agreed to the late check-out, but then they charged us £10 extra. I was confused, but I accepted the fee. However, when we checked out at 12 p.m. on the day of our departure, they banged on our door and demanded that we leave immediately because it was past 12 p.m. I reminded them that we had a late checkout and presented the invoice, but they didn’t seem to be aware of this. They didn’t offer any apologies or compensation for waking us up. Apart from these issues, the overall experience was satisfactory.

Great visit made even better by the care and attention of Scott the general manager. Helped us out amazingly and gave great advice for all things including travel into the city centre and especially parking. Can’t stress enough how helpful he was and how much it elevated our experience.

Large, pleasant, reasonably-well furnished, quiet, back-facing, top-floor, comfortable and carpeted room. Superbly comfy and huge-sized bed. The main room+shower room were spotless and bright and airy. Tram route to/from Ashton-Eccles via Manchester City Centre (also handy for Audenshaw, Droylsden and the Etihad Stadium complex on the way) is via the Ashton Moss tram stop about 200m away. All good. A very pleasant stay, would stay here again.
