Melia Isla Canela ★★★★

"Just returned from a lovely week’s stay with our large family. We were all delighted with the hotel and what it has to offer. The hotels reception, dinning and seating area are beautiful with a real calming feel which helps you feel instantly relaxed. Our room was clean and had good storage for a week’s clothing. The bathroom felt a little dated but the shower was hot and powerful. Rituals toiletries was a lovely touch. We opted for half board and were happy with the choice at breakfast and our evening dinner. The food was delicious and even the children had plenty to eat. It would have been nice to have water free of charge with evening dinner. ( found this expensive) . The ice cream served in the ice cream parlour is wonderful and the lady who serves is so friendly even helping my daughter who is learning Spanish. The pool area was always clean and had plenty of beds. It was nice to see the no reservation policy in place. My one negative was the pools were very cold . This didn’t bother the rest of the family but for myself I wasn’t brave enough. The hotel’s location was great with walks to the marina shops and bars . The beach is huge and makes a beautiful morning walk. On a final note a big shout out to the entertainment team they do a great job and we all enjoyed the evening entertainment. Especially the little ones loved the mini disco."

Playacanela ★★★★

"Came here for two weeks on half board. Although we’d not upgraded from a basic double we were given a one bedroom apartment on the top floor. We faced west and great views over the marshes. Hotel very smart and food good, very noisy restaurant with a lot of loud Spanish family groups . Pool area lovely, beds cordoned off until 10 am!! Supermarkets near and beach wonderful. Heard very little English spoken. Area very quiet, few eateries at Marina and, warning everything stops for siesta including buses!"

Vila Gale Isla Canela ★★★★

"Fantastic, from the moment you walk through the door, the place is beautiful, the rooms large and clean, the bed super comfortable. The food is a scandal, top brands of drinks in the all-inclusive, and the best of all the staff, friendly and very professional, entertainment, waiters, customer service, etc."

Parador de Ayamonte ★★★★

"To nitpick... we ordered a coffee at 8:00 AM, and it was only served if you ordered the full breakfast (€20). There was no other option because the cafeteria was closed and there were no vending machines. Mr. Receptionist, if a lady asks for just a coffee and there's no option, I'll go to the buffet and serve it myself as a courtesy from the hotel, and I'll be a gentleman. Just because of this, I will probably NEVER RETURN TO THIS PARADOR."
