I stayed at Aylesbury Travelodge for four nights and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. The hotel was extremely hot with no air conditioning, and for a family room we were only given one small table fan. The room key constantly failed. On the first day, I had to go to reception four times before a staff member came to open the door with their own key. The problem continued throughout my stay, and many other guests seemed to be experiencing the same issue. The biggest concern was the fire alarm. There was no announcement that fire alarm testing would be taking place. The alarm went off while I was in the bath, forcing me and my children to evacuate immediately. We used the stairs as instructed in a fire emergency rules, but became trapped because the exit door would not open. We waited around 15 minutes before a member of staff came to let us out, after I a have called the reception few times before, a staff member showed up. A staff member apologised and said that when they carry out fire alarm testing, people usually do not leave their rooms. However, that is not the point. Whether guests choose to evacuate or not, the hotel should always announce that fire alarm testing is taking place so everyone knows it is only a test. Clear communication about fire safety is essential. Overall, this was a stressful and disappointing stay. I expected much better communication, working room access, and proper safety procedures.

We only stayed one night here, but from the moment we met Alison at the check in desk' until after we left the next morning after breakfast, all the members of staff were extremely helpful and were very welcoming. Alison was always smiling and very helpful. We came back from our do and went to the bar and had a bit to eat and a few drinks, which was nice. Again everybody was just great. The room was very clean with a good view of the Canal and everything we required was there. If I had one minor complaint, the water pressure on the shower could have been turned up a bit !!!!! I do understand it was done to prevent water wastage. If we go back to Aylesbury, we will definitely stay there again.

On arrival with my girlfriend we were met by a very nice receptionist who gave us our room and door card. If was a very hot day and this hotel hasn't any air con. Unfortunately our room door wouldn't lock so another room was found for us very quickly and I suggested I get the other fan from the empty room which i did. All staff members were so nice and friendly and very chatty and also knowledgeable on local places to visit Waddesdon Manor was our choice which we pre booked. The hotel is in a perfect location with the theatre pubs and restaurants a 5 minute walk away. All you can eat breakfast downstairs in the hotel I you wish to do so. Good choice of hotel with lovely friendly helpful staff.
