My daughter and I attended Hartwell house for afternoon tea as part of an indulgence day package for my birthday. Having travelled extensively to experience afternoon teas this has to be the worst, not only was it expensive but the standard of the food was verging on amateur. This building is stunning and the staff were very professional but to be served 3 fingers of sandwich (plus one random slice of bread with rocket on),and tasteless scones is not what you expect for the price.

I booked a Sunday night stay at Hartwell as a Christmas present to my wife. Neither she nor I were disappointed. The house is so impressive, as you'd expect from a Jacobean mansion owned by the National Trust, but the staff helped to make it feel more intimate than you otherwise would expect. We had dinner, and that didn't disappoint. Our room, Number 20 up in the attic, was large and very comfortable, with two window seats. The grounds are beautiful, made much more interesting by the beautiful display of daffodils - and the numerous kites (the birds!) flying overhead. All in all, a memorable experience. But I'd like to give special thanks to all of the staff: reception, housekeeping, dining room and spa - you all made it a very special experience.

My best friend and I spent an absolutely blissful Thursday afternoon and Friday morning at the beautiful Hartwell House. What an oasis of beauty and joy! The house and grounds were intriguing, the food was exquisite and the staff were inviting, friendly, and attended to our every need so kindly. We also enjoyed a couple of relaxing treatments in the fabulous spa. It made for an absolutely perfect getaway which I would highly recommend to anyone in search of a bit of luxury and charm in a relaxed environment.

We have just returned from an overnight stay at this stunning hotel. It's not our first visit. We couldn't recommend Hartwell House enough. The hotel, grounds, food, staff are second to none. We stayed in a four poster bed suite which was enormous! The bathroom was beautifully appointed. The views amazing. We enjoyed a three course meal in the restaurant which was to die for. We knew the staff were exceptional from our last visit and they were again this time. A big shout out to all of them from your first dealings with reception, the concierge, the restaurant and breakfast team. 5 star plus. Hubby went for a wander in nearby Thame while I enjoyed a couple of hours in the spa. A decent sized pool, steam, jacuzzi and sauna. I didn't have a spa treatment (not enough time) - maybe next time. We can't wait for our next visit.

We had a fantastic stay at Hartwell House. Beautiful historic house overlooking an immense garden. Very good service and amazing food. The staff is very friendly. We also had a very relaxing time at the SPA centre with pool, sauna and Jacuzzi. For the treatments I would single out Christina for the best massage ever and Nabila for a very professionally done and relaxing facial. Both of them super kind and very experienced. Among the reception staff, I would like to mention Ben , who gave us a very good tour of the property that included various historical details. Very kind and helpful. I will be back! Lia

Outstanding country house hotel with lovely facilities and first class staff. Food also very good indeed. I’m struggling to think of anything to criticise, apart from lack of handholds in the bath. This hotel is really in the front rank of UK luxury hotels and significantly better than its two NT siblings. Highly recommended.

I wanted to thank you and your team for an exceptional afternoon tea group event. The food was wonderful, thanks to the kitchen team. Alex looked after us so well, striking the right balance between attention and discretion, and Soner was warm and welcoming. Escanda was very helpful looking after the room, and all your staff we encountered were so friendly. Special mention to Matthew who was very professional and oversaw the event really well. Thank you so much for providing this memorable and special event for us in such a beautiful setting. I hope we will return soon.
