Boutique Hotel Hans - Amsterdam Schiphol Airport

Room was as advertised with a very nice bathroom with spacious separate shower. Bed was a little soft for my taste. Restaurant downstairs was surprisingly good!

To avoid at all costs!!! I absolutely do not recommend it! We arrived in the evening after a full day of sightseeing, exhausted and with a 4-year-old child — and there was no one to welcome us. There is neither a reception nor a front desk at this hotel. The rooms are located above the bar. When we arrived, there was a crowd of drunk/inebriated people and a concert going on. There were no clear signs indicating the way to the rooms. We circled the bar several times and asked several people about the rooms, but no one was able to help us… Everyone was busy partying and serving drinks. After trying to call the manager with no success, we asked one of the bar staff again. We explained that we hadn’t received any confirmation email. She finally agreed to pull out a laptop to check our reservation. It turned out there was a technical issue. She had to call the manager several times to try to sort it out (all of this while we were standing in the bar, right next to the concert entrance, being pushed around by the crowd). The manager never showed up. Eventually, the young woman was able to give us the room key. She took us behind the outdoor minibar, where a tiny hidden sign indicated the hotel rooms entrance. We had to walk through a path between trash bins to reach the door… Then we had to climb to the second floor (with no elevator) to finally get to the room. Overall, it took us over an hour between our arrival and getting the room key! We finally managed to get settled around 9:30 PM. When I expressed my dissatisfaction to the manager, he simply sent a message saying: “Sorry, today is a big celebration in the Netherlands and we are busy.” It is absolutely unacceptable to pay €220 a night, receive no information or guidance to access the rooms, and be treated this way! I have stayed at many other accommodations with fully automated check-ins, and I have never had any issues — because communication and instructions were always very clear. Here, that was absolutely not the case: communication was non-existent! And to top it all off, the next morning, before the check-out time, the cleaning staff entered the room while we were still occupying it… It’s a shame that the management is so careless and that there is such a lack of consideration for hotel guests. In short: I do not recommend this hotel, and I will not return.

The hotel had no reception, which is a glorified air bnb therefore not a hotel. The check-in system is lousy. You are reliant on your phone to open doors, what if your battery dies? Next, most of the staff were very unpleasant, rude at best. One of them literally hustled my partner to pay the bill mid-stay meanwhile the booking was in my name. I was in the room trying to pay via their lousy link which barely worked. Next the bed was very uncomfortable, mattress was too soft. We ended up with back pains. This area is too far from Amsterdam there’s no need. I do not recommend.and I’m actually very offended at how they hustled my partner to pay the bill mid-stay while the booking was in my name.

On first glance (before booking) and just skimming over the room it was nice, very modern; a beautiful place. After the first nights stay we realised there were some issues. Firstly, I didn’t get the email on how to enter the property and there is no allocated receptionist for the hotel. So if there was no one in the restaurant to help, I wouldn’t have been able to enter. Secondly, the lighting in the room was very poor. Once the sun is setting you cannot do anything that requires light (eg makeup) we had our phone torches on. Thirdly, from the first day my friend had contacted the property about the next issue via WhatsApp (to my knowledge that’s the only way to contact them) and they never replied. I also messaged them about something (I booked the hotel) and they never replied to me. You would have to physically go down to the restaurant to ask someone there if you want anything. Fourth, from night 1 of our stay there was a leak from one of the extractor fans in the bathroom which created a puddle by the toilet and would travel to the sink and the bathroom door if you let it. We were mopping it up with towels everyday. Someone came in who I believe was maintenance, we told him about it & he said he’ll take a picture and be back, we never saw him again. The room was never turned over. We had to ask for towels. This isn’t something I’ve ever experience at a hotel. A bnb maybe, but not a hotel. The bed was lovely.
