Very historic hotel. You can visit the hotel to learn about its history, from the hotel built before World War I to how it has evolved step by step to today. The hotel has a restaurant and the front desk service is very professional.

We went to their restaurant for a lunch buffet. This was the best meal we had in Norway. I have never experienced quality, variety and impeccable view all at the same place. I wonder how come influencers have not discovered this historic hotel and restaurant (I am glad they have not. The place looks untouched and only OG travellers and guests join this experience.) Full marks to the pickled salmon, poached salmon and smoked salmon. The fish balls were to die for and the rosemary sauce with the pork was so good that I can still imagine the taste of it. The buffet is worth it.

I stayed in a delightful room with a large balcony in the old section of this gorgeous period hotel. My room overlooked the fjord. The staff could not have been more helpful, efficient and professional. The staff at reception who I interacted mostly with and who were extremely helpful were Kristoffer and Martina, and in the restaurant I'd like to commend Sabina, Peter and Olga!

The Kviknes Hotel consists of two parts, the original hotel containing the older rooms as well as the main the restaurant and sitting rooms (see my pictures), and a newer wing. We stayed in the new part and this is reasonable old but we had a comfortable room/sleep and great view in the morning onto the Fjord and mountain ranges. This hotel in Balestrand is an ideal base to explore the fjords and area. We were part of our tour so had breakfast and dinner included within our tour and it was of a high standard and there was plenty of choice. Some people noted of the sitting in rows but it wasn't an issue for us at all. Friendly staff and plenty of areas to sit down for a drink or to just take in the views or you could walk around in the grounds.
