This was one of the worst hotel stays of my life. For around IDR 700,000 per night, the facilities and service were completely unacceptable.
There was no drinking water provided in the room. The staff said I had to take water myself from an outside filter drum, which is not acceptable at this price. There was no water kettle, no coffee, no toothbrush, and no hair dryer. The bed was old, dirty, and looked poorly maintained. The room condition felt neglected, with too much rubbish and a very low standard overall.
There was also no proper parking. The AC was not cooling at all. Even in 2026, they are still using a very old first-generation LCD TV instead of at least providing a smart TV. The whole place felt more like a low-grade lodge than a proper hotel.
I know the Ibis brand usually has a good reputation, which is why this experience in Balikpapan was even more disappointing. The price was far too high for what they provided. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Very poor value, very poor maintenance, and honestly it felt like cheating guests.
I request trip.come dont recommend this hotel.
