The Mustard Seed at Echo Lodge

We had a fantastic stay in The Mustard Seed . Staff are excellent and could not be more friendly & helpful. We had dinner on 2 nights great service and great food. Our room was extremley clean and Spacious ( Room 3) , our 4 poster bed was very comfortable. The location in Ballingarry is very quiet and peaceful with lovely gardens and views. We had a very relaxing stay and enjoyed it immensely.

Situated just outside Adare, the award-winning Mustard Seed at Echo Lodge is a hidden gem and a magical place to spend a few nights in traditional, old-world charm. The lodge and restaurant are set on 12-acres, featuring beautiful garden walks, which were just springing into bloom at the time of our visit. The main house itself is an invitation to slow down, recline in one of the beautifully art-filled sitting rooms and enjoy the fireplaces. Absolutely perfect for relishing a welcome drink, a good book, or convivial chat. We particularly enjoyed Alex, the chef, entertaining us on the piano at the end of an evening after a particularly satisfying meal. In a few words, the Mustard Seed was amazing, welcoming, and the food was mouth-watering. Our gracious and amiable host, John Edward Joyce, and his team took care of all our needs. Our accommodation overlooking the courtyard was perfect as our canine companion travels everywhere with us. Each morning and evening, the breakfast and dinner menu changed based on the garden produce and seasonality. The service was impeccable, and the kitchen team even catered to the whims of our rather demanding canine family member. We chose the Mustard Seed to celebrate our 36th wedding anniversary and are very much looking forward to a return visit! Brid and Richard

I wrote a very positive review of this hotel after our first stay there two years ago. Having now stayed there 3 years in a row, I cannot resist writing an updated review. The Mustard Seed, both hotel and restaurant, is a truly exceptional place to stay and dine. We have enjoyed many family meals there over many years, It is owned and managed by a truly exceptional host, John Edward, who is an absolute paragon of traditional Irish hospitality, and who clearly runs his establishment as a labour of love. The food is consistently of the very highest quality. Congratulations to an exceptional chef. And to whomever is responsible for procuring the produce, all of which is wonderfully fresh and natural, some of it grown in their own fruit and vegetable garden; which makes for a lovely walk. The hotel itself is a very-well appointed, and offers great comfort in a delightful old-world atmosphere, surrounded by lovely Irish countryside. It is a great way of taking a break from city life, and enjoying a peaceful retreat in the country. It is also very child-friendly; so much so that my 10-year-old daughter consistently describes it as her all-time favourite hotel... and she has stayed in a fair number. To crown it all, the staff are remarkably kind, welcoming and efficient, not to mention the kitchen staff who do such a great job.

This has to be one of the most relaxing and peaceful places to spend a night. Thanks so much to John Edward and team for making my wife's birthday so enjoyable. Excellent food with vintage elegance. Our 3rd stay at The Echo Lodge and looking forward to returning again someday.

Just fabulous! Food, staff, gardens, rooms all wonderful! Cosy sofas in front of roaring fires. Great chats with staff & guests or find your own little nook. Great location for sightseeing. And if you're lucky a private piano concert by one of the kitchen staff!

My Mam and I spent a night at this wonderful house. It is incredibly peaceful and full of charm. The food was absolutely out of this world. The menu was delicious and everything was so considered. The chef in this restaurant is gifted. It was a fantastic experience and I will definitely be back. Thank you to all the staff who were very friendly and efficient.
