Property Description
The Apple Inn is an award-winning family-owned Northumbrian country pub, located in the center of Lucker. Having gained recognition for level of service and commitment to serving fresh, locally sourced food, The Apple Inn has won numerous Gold awards. The Apple Inn’s menu serves local Northumbrian produce including fresh fish, succulent meat and tasty vegetarian dishes. And what would a pub be without real ales? The Apple Inn serves its own ‘Lucker Gold’ and ‘St Hilda’ ale from Alnwick Brewery, plus a vast selection of other beers, lagers and ciders as well as freshly brewed tea and coffee in a warm and friendly environment. The Apple Inn is also dog friendly – we aim to accommodate everyone, including your four-legged friends! We have just introduced five new Shepherd’s Huts to our accommodations offering in the pretty Northumberland village of Lucker. Located across the road from The Apple Inn, the wooden huts offer peaceful countryside accommodations with woodburning stoves, within reach of some of Northumberland’s favorite tourism spots, castles, beaches and coastal walks. Each Shepherd’s Hut is home to a warm and cozy living and dining area, with en suite shower room and king size bed, all designed to comfortably accommodate two adults—and they are dog-friendly too! In addition to the Shepherd’s Huts, we also have two cozy rooms above The Apple Inn.

Table booked for 1.45, finally got seated at 2.20. Waitress came to take order 10 minutes later. We both ordered trio of meat Sunday roast. When it came we were not impressed the pork consisted of a lump of fat. The roasted veg was one carrot and the whole lot was swamped in thick gravy. We were unable to eat it and were given another plate, this was just as bad. We did say we were not happy and were told the catering company would be informed

April 2025 4 of us went for Mothers Day (30.03.25) in the graveyard slot of 4pm. Professional Staff got us seated quickly. A bit of a delay for the drinks order to be taken (but really nothing to be too fussed about) We just ordered a main each The Gluten Free Fish and Chips was excellent with a nice crispy batter The Guiness and Steak Pie similarly was very good - packed full of mince with a lovely flaky pastry crust that is all too rare these days. The let down were the Burgers that other two went for : The double meat patties were fine in themselves - no gristle / good quality steak but unfortunately totally lacking in actual flavour and devoid of any seasoning. To accompany there was an 8th teaspoon of chilli jam on top which just soaked into the top of the bread bun . A penny piece size of gherkin coupled with a fragment of cheese well - All well short of the menu description. Had they run out ? One of the party who ordered the Burger had a Gluten Allergy but sadly the GF replacement of the Brioche Bun was barely edible and a far cry from GF Brioche Buns enjoyed elsewhere. Nice place but room for improvement....

Visited the Apple Inn at Lucker as part of the Beau Monde spa deal, opened the door to be greeted with the biggest infectious smile from Iona from behind the bar. We was quickly seated with menus and 5minutes later our drinks order was taken. We had the 3 courses and each plate was empty when returned. The ham hock terrine and prawn cocktail starters were top notch. Steak and Guinness pie and Apple Inn burger for best course beat the 1st. We both had the lemon posset for dessert which was lovely and light to finish off the night. The staff were 1st class even though the restaurant was busy the had smiles on their faces and dealt with everyone’s needs. We will definitely be returning for a meal at The Apple Inn , can’t believe that I’ve lived in the area 55 years and have never visited here. Looking forward to the next visit

Lovely pub although we did find it difficult to find via Google maps! Lol. Lovely decor. Fish and chips were fab, i also had the ‘signature apple’ which tasted as good as it looked! Very quiet so can’t comment on the atmosphere Staff seemed very pleasant but we were tucked away in a large room on our own so only saw them for service Bit of a gem

This is a great pub in Lucker. The staff are very friendly and they allow dogs which is great. The fish and chips were awesome being cooked in beef fat which adds to it. Wife had chicken Caesar which she loved. Will be back when we next up here. Beer was excellent as well

We’ve eaten lunch at the Apple twice now, once midweek and once on Sunday. Each time the food was excellent, the featherblade of beef particularly good. Despite a sign saying (midweek) they had a slight staff shortage, we didn’t experience any problems, the service was perfect, lovely staff, friendly and efficient both times. We couldn’t fault it.
