The Siam

Riverside Bangkok|2.74km from Coin Museum
We had the pleasure of staying at The Siam for 4 nights in early May 2022. Quarantine-free travel had just lifted so we were lucky to have almost the entire hotel to ourselves for a few days.. Our stay was amazing. The service was impeccable, our private butler (Tong) helped us out with all of our bookings and arrangements and was a great source of recommendations on top of the Bangkok guide provided by the hotel which was very helpful as well. We met the general manager, Nick, who was very accommodating and regularly checked in to make sure our stay was 100%. The hotel room we had was spacious and well decorated with a comfy kingsize bed. The interior of the hotel is like a combination of a palace meets museum, with antique art from around the world in every room and hallway. We found the library was a great place to do some quiet work (unfortunately that was required), and we made use of the private hotel boat to get anywhere on the river, such a fun (and quick!) way to get around Bangkok and avoid the sometimes busy traffic. The restaurant was also great - what better way to start the day than having breakfast overlooking the river. Would also recommend the Spa downstairs, a very relaxing way to recover from busy Bangkok, as well as making use of the “screening room” which is a small private cinema you can book whilst ordering from the room-service menu. We will certainly stay here again on our next trip to Bangkok, absolutely worth it and 10/10 recommended.

Villa de Khaosan by Chillax

The room is a bit small, the smell is too strong, the window is the inner window in the corridor, the service is very good, the front desk and the doorman are very friendly, they help us take the luggage from the taxi and send it to the room. The washbasin in the bathroom is the type I like, and I didn’t go to see the rooftop swimming pool. The schedule is too tight, but I didn’t take pictures for those who leave early and return late.

First I recommend booking a room with windows (if any). Our room was clean. Air conditioning worked well. We had a TV. Unfortunately there was only one socket. Bathroom size was just right. I think this is the best hotel we have ever stayed in Thailand. Wifi is good. There is a 24-hour front desk service. There is an elevator on the 2nd floor to transport your luggage (where it is at reception). The staff at reception are friendly and helpful. Unfortunately there is a lot of noise in the room, from the air conditioning and the street outside. There is a small carpet here and the TV cabinet can save some of your stuff. The blankets are clean and the beds are comfortable. The hotel is near the Khoasan road.

Firstly not all bad was kinda clean but other than that a small room, noisy and harrassed everytime we left the hotel 1 night was all it took for us to check out early and we had paid for 4. It was made out when booking the pool was at this location but we soon found out it was not, if you wanted to go for a swim you had to push past the harrassment from the locals at the front door and all the way down khao San road. The view from the room was the neighbours kitchen, lovely. The staff wouldn't even call us a taxi when we left. Definitely not a relaxing environment felt like a little noisy jail cell the doors to the balcony was just a wooden unsealed door with 2 small latches to secure and the a/c was almost louder than the road noise. To top this all off the bed was like sleeping on a stone table. Good luck to others that brave this ”hotel”.
OYO 482 Pannee Lodge Khaosan

We have just left Panee Lodge after a long stay of 3 weeks. The hotel rooms are nice for the price you pay and are very clean. The only comment I would make is that the bathroom can sometimes be a bit smelly! However I think this is the case in a lot of hotels in the area (we have experienced this before) it’s more the drains that the smell comes from so probably not much the hotel can do! The best thing about this hotel is the staff, they are all so lovely and nothing is too much trouble. Always happy and friendly. The little cafe in the hotel is nice and does great coffee and breakfasts! Healthy and big portions that keep you going all day. We will definitely stay here next time we are in Bangkok :)

Had a great two night stay here, rooms are clean and comfortable, and well equipped with fridge and cable tv, good shower, wifi...the whole building seems recently renovated... friendly staff too...good location just outside the party zone, everything is within easy walking distance, lots and lots of restaurants and bars nearby

We stayed in the family room with 2 adults, 2 children for 2 nights, it was clean and had everything we needed but it wasn't anything special. Arriving late and walking down Khaoson Rd, we thought what on earth had we done but the family room was at the back of the hotel so was quiet. So, good location if you want the hustle and bustle but very loud at night out on Khaoson Rd. It didn't feel very safe, they had a sign saying 'leave your belongings in your room at your own risk'. And when we needed to leave out bags in the luggage room for a few hours, we felt uneasy as people were in and out all day. The reception staff were fine with us, the staff at the bar by the pool weren't very friendly though. The pool area is nice and they provide towels but it's only small so you're lucky if you get a bed. I was ok for 2 nights while we explored Bangkok but I probably wouldn't stay again.
