I was quite anxious when I arrived, as many reviews mentioned the hotel being old and dated. However, after staying for three days, I have to commend this hotel! 1. The lobby is opulent, and 'rich and varied' doesn't even begin to describe the spread at breakfast. 2. The service is exceptional; they are basically ready to help with anything you need. There's always someone to open the door when you enter the lobby, and the front desk and room service are fantastic! When I checked out, they helped me book a taxi to the airport, which was cheaper than both Grab and Trip.com, costing only 500 Thai Baht (to Don Mueang Airport). 3. The gym is huge, easily over 400 square meters, with all sorts of equipment and dedicated staff. I didn't get to use the pool, but there were lots of kids enjoying it. 4. The hotel's location is convenient, right next to an MRT station. Although it's about 6-7km from the main tourist attractions, for this price, service, and facilities, there's absolutely nothing to complain about. Book with confidence! In the evenings, there's a night market nearby, mostly frequented by locals, offering great value for money. If you turn right outside, there's a 'Chinatown' street with all kinds of delicious food.

Breakfast was good, and the gym was surprisingly (really) good for a hotel gym. The only downside is that you can easily run out of weights, for example, the heaviest dumbbells are only 50 lbs. The lobby and exterior are stunning. The pool is quite large. The staff is polite. I can recommend this hotel.

I've stayed here several times in a row now. The hotel breakfast is incredibly extensive, and it's centrally located in Ratchada, surrounded by many Chinese restaurants. They offer Chinese-speaking service, which makes it especially suitable for Chinese guests. The front desk staff are very friendly, and the hotel lobby is grand and impressive! 👏👏👏

First of all, the hotel in general, despite being an “older” hotel, is well furnished and clean. The room is also very nice and spacious with great view from the room. Overall, nothing to complain about, would re-book this hotel for next trip!

The location is ok but nearby not much things to do. Nearest mall is around 15 min by foot and seem localised with super markets, home pro etc. Good for business people but not good for leisure traveler. Huai Kwang mrt exit 2 is a 3-5 min walk. However if raining, good game. Regarding the room, if possible, do a flush first to check if your toilet has choke. My toilet choke on my last night and the hotel staff proposed to change room but I didn’t as too much things to pack and unpack for just a mere 8-10 hours before check out. Next morning wake up, the next door also choke. As I can help the engineering guy pumping his toilet and there are the blob blob blob sound in my toilet bowl. Seem like both room toilet share the same main pipe and the main got choke. Kudos to hotel staff to give a new room.

We saved this hotel until last – slightly fancier than the other 3 in our time in Thailand – as a little final night trip, and unfortunately, it was the most disappointing of the lot. The price, by global standards, might not be eye-watering. But by Thailand prices, it was certainly higher end, at over 800rmb per night with a ~450 (2000bht) deposit upon arrival. It did not meet those standards, I'm afraid to say. First things first, it should be said that it is fairly easy to get to on the MTR system, just a very short walk from Hwai Khwang, though it should be pointed out that when using Trip to find the location of Google Maps, I was given the wrong spot (further down the road, so actually a nice surprise to see it was closer, and I wont hold this against the hotel as it is likely nothing to do with them.) Serve at check-in was good, bags carried up the stairs for us and taken to the room with the porter stood waiting as we arrived. Check-in staff were as friendly as one would expect at a Marriott-run hotel of this quality, & though I was slightly surprised by the price of the deposit it was ultimately fine. We had booked a deluxe room with a double bed, and were told that since there was none available (?), we'd be upgraded to a Premier. Looking at the app since, I'm struggling to see where they differ. The decor in the Premier is perhaps a bit more modern, but they are the same size with the same bathroom (more on that later), and the lower price-point is on a much higher floor (ergo better view, I'd assume). In truth, had I paid for a Premier & been greeted with our room, I'd have been even more disappointed. The room was fine, but I'm not sure much more than that. A decent size, though by no means surprisingly big. It was at least quite airy, and the bed pretty comfortable, though seriously lacking in plug sockets. I find it rare to see a hotel these days without plug sockets on both sides of the bed, especially a hotel at this price point. It meant that only one phone could be charged nearby, the other on the table on the other side of the room. The bathroom, though, was really, really disappointing (& that's putting it lightly). The bathtub might have been a nice touch, had it not quite clearly had dried on blood stains in it. I've never experienced this in any hotel I've ever stayed at, no matter how cheap. Let alone at one double the price of anywhere else we stayed in Bangkok and Thailand! The sink, too, was clearly scratched up dirty, with two clear globs of dried on mucus. No face washing in there for us. Fortunate perhaps, given the number of towels provided too was pretty light. The bin in the bathroom also came with no bin bag. I'd hope that the inside is therefore cleaned regularly, but given what we'd seen before, I wasn't filled with hope. Elswhere, breakfast was generally of expected quality. Nothing to write home about per se, but a very nice dining area and good service in fairness. The coffee was decent, though again by no means hugely memorable. The swimming pool is a highlight, offering great views across the city (indeed, the view from our room was quite nice too – though can't help thinking it would be better from a higher floor, like in the cheaper rooms!), with ample comfy beds and free towels. It might be a bit small in peak season, but there were only 3 other groups sharing with us, so plenty of space for a swim. We also enjoyed the massage (850bht). The price was not included in the room fee, but I thought 850 seemed a decent price for the quality and the convenience. Each of these things could be the most memorable part of the trip, were we not greeted by the dirtiest bathroom I've ever experienced in a hotel. & that's a real pity, because it was so avoidable too! Especially from a Marriott hotel, I'd really expect better.

Location is near mrt but slightly out of city center. It's some distance to Big C and Jodd Fairs. There are 2 7-11s nearby, but the one below the hotel closes at 10pm. We faced issues at check-in as there were some problems with the agent/supplier. The hotel staff was really nice but did not appear very well-informed to handle such a situation ie asking if we booked with the hotel when we have the booking reference. Perhaps he could have asked us for more info instead of telling us to resolve with Trip. Wasted more than 30mins trying to get the check-in resolved. Most of the time we stood at the counter feeling lost. The staff offered us a late check-out which I rejected and he gave us a slightly better room which looks the same to me. The hotel lobby was grand, but it lacks a 5 star service. The hotel can consider offering welcome drinks or even fruits in the room. Of all the 5 star hotels I have stayed at thus far, this is the only place without such a service. The plus point is that the housekeeper is really fast and friendly. However, I think more attention could be paid to the side of the sink (there was soap). The breakfast spread is relatively huge, but almost no change in the spread for a week. The taste was also bad to mediocre, so I will not recommend unless you are looking for convenience. Service at the breakfast area was very inconsistent. During our stay, there was some random light and TV flickering. Also, the tap and the shower head are positioned oddly. Water got out of the sink easily, and the shower head is too close to the wall. TV could use an upgrade ie YouTube or Netflix. Also, recommended to provide plastic bottles of water instead of glass bottles.

Due to work commitments, I had to delay my return and decided to extend my stay for one more night. Unfortunately, this additional stay was very disappointing. The toilet had clearly not been cleaned, and visible urine stains were present. Although housekeeping came to clean it promptly after I called, the initial condition left a very unpleasant impression. I have stayed in many hotels over the years, and this is the first time I have encountered such a situation. It significantly affected my overall experience and expectations of basic hygiene standards.
