DoubleTree by Hilton Bangkok Ploenchit

I booked a deluxe king room, which wasn't very big. The breakfast was mediocre, mostly 'white people food'. For over 700 baht, I felt it wasn't great value for money. The swimming pool was quite small, and when I went in the morning, there were leaves floating on top, making it unusable. Before booking, I saw other reviews saying the rooms were quiet, but perhaps my room was close to the elevated highway because I could still hear motorbikes, even on the 23rd floor. The hotel is just a block away from ***. There are 7-Elevens at the entrance's gas station and further inside ***. The inner 7-Eleven had more selection. As a solo female traveler, I walked through *** to the inner 7-Eleven to shop two nights in a row and felt reasonably safe. The hotel's location is decent, situated between the Siam and Sukhumvit shopping districts. If you're not in a hurry, you can walk to either district in about twenty minutes.

The location is convenient, just a 5-minute walk to Nana Plaza. It's quiet despite being in a lively area, and the hotel staff are very polite. The bed and pillows are comfortable, and breakfast is good. The only downside is that there are only two small elevators, so sometimes you have to wait. Everything else was great.

The high-floor room was pretty good, with nice views. However, it's a bit far from the subway station, about 400-500 meters. The doorman was very enthusiastic and professional; he could help call a tuk-tuk, taxi, or even arrange a private car right outside. If you don't eat at the ground floor restaurant, other eateries are a bit of a trek. Some of the receptionists weren't very proficient and lacked flexibility. We booked two rooms but were assigned to different floors. It took a long time to sort out, and only the manager could resolve it.

Didn't I specifically ask for a room not on the corner or close to the elevator?

The room was clean and very comfortable. It's super convenient for getting around, just a few minutes' walk to 7-Eleven and the subway, which takes you to the Erawan Shrine and various shopping malls. The staff were all warm and attentive. The SPA on the 7th floor was excellent with professional techniques. They even offered snacks and drinks before and after the massage. And that mango sticky rice was absolutely delicious! 😋

The hotel was spotless! Breakfast was much better than I expected. As someone with a Chinese palate, I had a bowl of noodle soup every morning. The view from the room was also lovely. It's a quiet spot, yet still conveniently located.
