Tembo Barcelona

Fantastic hotel! It's a short 10-minute walk to the beach and about a 15-minute stroll to the Natural History Museum or the sightseeing bus stop. Rooms on the 10th floor and above offer amazing views, especially the corner suites which boast both ocean and cityscapes. The balcony is incredibly comfortable, featuring a small round table with two chairs. Each room comes with a kitchen and cooking utensils, a microwave, and a refrigerator stocked with complimentary bottled water. The beds and bedding are exceptionally comfortable. This hotel is perfect for both family vacations and business trips.

This is a new hotel. It's a 15-minute drive (30 minutes by bus) from the city center. The rooms are quite spacious and come with a balcony, offering a wide, open view, which made for a very comfortable sleep. It's not far from the beach, so the sea-facing rooms probably have great views, though the city view is just okay. There are brunch spots and a small supermarket nearby, which is quite convenient. Getting to the city center by bus is super easy; the subway, tram, and bus stations are all just a five or six-minute walk away. The front desk staff were very friendly and spoke excellent English. This hotel, being new in 2024, is clean and tidy, and the kitchenette is a convenient touch. The food at Amani restaurant was delicious. The breakfast buffet, however, was just average. The downside is that the staff aren't particularly friendly and don't seem to care about the guests. To be precise, at check-in, an employee named Jenia made a mistake and undercharged me. I didn't know about it, but the next day I received a text asking me to pay the remaining balance. I didn't mind paying the extra, but that evening, when I tried to enter my room, my key card didn't work. When I went to reception, I found out they had deliberately blocked my room to ensure I'd pay the outstanding amount. This is the first time I've encountered a hotel that treats guests this way. They could have called me, or left a message in the room, but instead, they chose this petty method of intentionally preventing me from entering my room. The staff just have a cheap mentality. I had to pay card fees twice for two transactions, and the exchange rate was rising. I explained it was a loss for me and asked why I should fix their employee's mistake, but they just said I had to pay. They wouldn't offer any compensation. Furthermore, the gym is small, and they keep all the doors closed, so the air is very stuffy. When I opened a window, they told me to close it for safety reasons. They kept coming to close it themselves. What's more, when I complained about the payment issue, they deflected by giving a ridiculous explanation that the problem was caused by me opening the gym door. When I requested to speak with the general manager, the female staff member I thought was the GM turned out to be just the Executive Housekeeper. We arranged a meeting, but there was no response, and she kept postponing it with excuses about having other meetings. Later, when I finally met her, she claimed she had been looking for me. They could have called, come to my room, or sent a text message. I'm really annoyed by the utterly unreasonable behavior of the staff. They say Tembo means 'elephant' and the building resembles an elephant, which is why it's named Tembo, but the staff have hearts smaller than ants.

Everything was great! 👍🏻 The hotel is simply wonderful, clean, with delicious breakfasts, and the view from the rooftop terrace deserves the highest praise! Highly recommend!

The hotel is clean and tidy, and the room is very spacious with comfortable bedding. The staff are highly professional, and the surrounding environment is excellent, making it a great place to stay. However, the rooftop pool is a bit of a letdown.
